That's why Jesus never went to temple. He hated the very same thing. That was his real message that the modern Christian church ignores: You don't need a church. You don't need anybody telling you what words mean. All you need to have a relationship with God is you.
Jesus stated that over and over again. It, like most everything else he said, fell on deaf ears.
Most modern Christians will quote every passage from the Bible, but will never, every quote Jesus. Why? Because Jesus didn't preach what they want to hear. Everybody else did.

Jesus could write perfectly well. He was very well educated and came from a well-to-do family. He was also very adept at math, being trained in carpentry and construction. He actually taught and wrote scriptures for others, which is how his life of popularity began.
No, we don't have samples. But we don't have samples of Julius Ceasar's, Seti's, Alexander the Great's or Pontius Pilot's writing either, and we all know full well they could write.
It's only through blind luck that we have the writings of others that wrote about Jesus, and so many others throughout history.

It baffles me. My father quit church and became an ordained minister. He and a couple other divorced guys are building a church.
After my father retired he uprooted from where he lived and worked for over 30 years because he had a calling to preach in a particular area.
He was told by several churches he couldn't be a deacon or preacher because he was divorced.
If you look at the actual scripture it doesn't say anything about being divorced. It states a man shall not have more than one wife. My father has never had more than one wife.
The Pharisees approached Jesus and asked him about divorce. He said it was allowed.
It boils down to why you divorce. If you divorce because of lust then you did it for the wrong reasons. Divorce is allowed in certain circumstances. Things like a spouse abandoning you etc. My mom was going to ruin my dads career and life. He divorced her to protect his government job and retirement.
Not only did these couple churches shun him over it they called every church in the surrounding towns and had him black balled.
Another reason I don't like organised religion.
The church he came from was a faith based church and he was allowed to serve. The churches around here are law based churches.
The only reason Christians supported trump is because of abortion and gay rights. Christians will blindly accept a politician over abortion and lgbt rights and not worry about anything else they stand for. Oh and Muslim ban.
