New grower seeking advice on potential setup

Hello all! I'm a new grower trying to do my first indoor grow in Oregon. I've been spending the couple months researching what to buy and lurking on here and loving all the great info I've been finding. So I'm here to hopefully get a little advice before I pull the trigger on my setup. My plan is to grow in a 4x4 tent. I want to lst and scrog 4 plants. Not completely decided on strains. I've seen a lot of people recommend northern lights as a good first time strain. I'm also thinking about maybe Blue Dream. I've also read Ak-47 is a good first strain to grow. Any others you guys would recommend?

I'm planning on using the 600w shopping list found on growweedeasy but with a few swapped out pieces. I'm swapping out the Apollo tent for a Vivosun 4x4 and getting an iPower 6 inch fan and carbon filter. Is it worth it to spend more on one of the higher quality tents like a Gorilla Grow tent?

Probably the main thing I would like some clarification on is regarding my light. I was originally going to buy a an led light from a local hydroponic store but after doing more research I think COB's are the way to go.

I'm not very familiar with electrical and don't want to hassle with building a board. So I was thinking of going with one of the Timber premade fixtures. I was thinking I would go with the Vero 29 redwood-vs-4x4

Would I be any better off with one of their CXB3590 redwood-cs-4x4 fixtures or one of the Citizen redwood-ts-4x4 fixtures instead of the Vero 29? The Vero 29's seem damn good for the price. Are the crees that much better for an additional $600? I plan on using this light for both veg and flower will 3500k do the job? Or should i mix and match?

Cree cxb is an overpriced cob by todays standards, I would go with the gen 7 vero c 29..............if power is cheap and plan to grow year round in Oregon, I would pick the 600w hid for the extra heat source==== preferably the gavita 750w de kit, not some junk ipower with RFI issues IMO

Love my 3500K Timber Vero rig.
Also my Gorilla tent.
Is it worth the extra money? I don't know, I've only used Gorilla.
But I've found that pinhole light leaks are not the villain they're made out to be, and some reflective tape can fix anything.
As far as your choice of plants, grow what you like.
All cannabis is easy to grow in a dialed-in setup.

I have a lighthouse 4x8 grow tent working get for 3+years now. One zipper broke its the very end and still works. That however was completely my fault.
Can't help with led...just don't know enough
strain...most are pretty easy.
if growing a momma you need a separate area for her.
advice...start with only a few plants for first run, easier to manage easier to fix problems like pest.

I have to admit I am slightly surprised at the small issues I had with my Gorilla tent. I wasn't expecting it to be bulletproof by any means.

The zipper teeth became stuck during my first 2 weeks of use and caused the one tooth to not align now. I just zip it slowly and it is fine. Still annoying when I'm in a hurry and the tooth misses.

At 2 months the seam on the left zipper door panel started separating. I tossed some duct tape on it.

Could I claim some warranty manufacturer's defect shit? Sure. Do I have the time? Nope.

Would I buy another Gorilla tent? Probably haha. Buy once, cry once.

Hello. If you live near Portland like I do. You can get used stuff stupid cheap at a shit load of places around town.

Hey there,

I'm pretty new as well. I did my first grow with a gorilla tent and really like it, granted, I have nothing to compare it to. I went with an LED company called Amare and I really like my SolarPro 300. It pulls minimal amps and the plants seem to love it (super bright). I've heard people really love Spectrum King LED as well. Best of luck and happy growing!
