Washed my buds last year and this year. Don't think I'd grow outdoor without doing it. After you see all the dirt and bugs and come off you will feel the same.
I've done it before and liked the results. Perhaps it is best to grow in conditions that don't require it. A greenhouse is a solid investment. So I use to watch these videos on YouTube and I always wanted to know other peoples opinions... Have any of y'all actually washed your buds after harvest?? have you had washed bud vs non washed in the same harvest? I mean. People say they don't hurt trichromes. So why not do it? I'm just skeptical about trying it. Wanted to know other peoples input before i go ahead and do it.
Hi and thanks for advising, but i am seeing a math error?1 tablespoon of 35% h2o2 to 1 gallon of water.

I think there was a guide posted here unless I saw it on YouTube. it was mostly water with a few squirts of peroxide if I remember correctly.% solution final dilution?
Jorge Cervantes gives a nice tutorial on Youtube with a good ratio.% solution final dilution?

35% 10:1 is 3.5%, or standard drugstore brown bottle H2O2 with stabilizers added . Gargle strength on bottle is 1:1, or 1.75%, yet Macsnax advises that at 1:2 or 1.1% strength.
Bugseye says 1 TBS to 1 Gallon water where there are 256 TBS in a Gallon, or 0.35/256 = .13%. You guys advise 10X differently. Some new posts just chimed in, and all please state the concentrations you used exactly and how mush is too much. At some point the H2O2 will attack the veg, and maybe the tric's. No time to study concentrations on already moldy leaves. So glad there is a forum for this.
Please advise again Bugseye, Macsnax, LordKanti. Name the % concentration you wash buds in before rinse water, post trimming.
Give it a shot on a single bud. Have your scope handy to compare. It will make sense once you've tried it.So swirling buds I water doesn't damage tricomes?
If not I'd try it
mic dropEver tried to wash resin off your hands with water?
IDK..i just add a splash of 3% to some water in a rectangular bucket...I don't think theres a need to worry about ratios to much.Thank you BugsEye for the link you posted in Reply #88. I could not Reply to you because you gave a link newbs not allowed to post links yet.
4 tsp per gallon of 35% as the chart says for 'living fungusy' plants. 256 TBS per Gallon, 256/1.3 TBS = 192. 35% / 192 = 0.18%
Is this strong enough to kill mold? I will try on a living leaf, lightly dusted with mold, about a week from harvest, that i have been afraid to give a strong water shower instead. Buds too far along.
All you replying without stating ratios, put down the pipe and state your mixing ratios and stories. How much is too much? We are talking a jar dip and swirl to expel bubbles, a few seconds, then fresh water dip and centrifugal slinging as much water off as possible, before a fan finishes removing the water.
Thank you,

I gently dunk mine and let sit for a min or two, gently agitating. Then dunked quickly and gently in some luke warm water and hang.
I don't think you need to over complicate it or be whipping the plant about.....
Mate peroxide is cheap, just splash some in there.UPDATE - Effective mold spore killing of trimmed plants requires 0.5%, or 3.65 TBS 35% H2O2 per gallon of water, says grow biz.
Also learned Actinovate is banned in CA.

I'm thinking of trying this. Splash, being 3-4 tablespoons? How much water in your bucket? Not concerning myself with the price of peroxide, I just don't want to over do the amount of peroxide.IDK..i just add a splash of 3% to some water in a rectangular bucket...I don't think theres a need to worry about ratios to much.

Never had mould? Sounds like your an indoor guy and you have stumbled into the wrong forum or you live an a close to perfect environment. Extremely hard to sterilize a gorilla plot id imagine or hook up a HEPA filter..Ive even had spiders..big fkrs making homes in buds., bird shit, wasps, ants, caterpillars, you get the picture.Let me get this straight, people are really worried about a little bit of dirt and a few insects in their buds?
There's a great article on scientific American titled "I hate to break it to you, but you already eat bugs", and it's very accurate.

Sure, people generally don't smoke their food, but "dirt and bugs" are just organic matter, much like plant matter itself, just molecules consisting mostly of Hydrogen, Carbon, and Oxygen, and will produce the same byproducts when burned...
I would never go soaking my entire harvest in water. I often water cure a small portion of my harvest because I like the different flavor/aroma it gives, but it really doesn't have any benefits...
Also, I've never had mold problems when, and I've never sprayed or washed with any fungicide prior to harvesting/trimming. Its all about the conditions in your drying room. Keep temps and humidity low, and keep it clean. Sterilize the room and use a good HEPA filter. You're better off keeping your conditions not suitable for mold growth and drying before mold has a chance to occur than soaking your buds with water...
I certainly wouldn't use hydrogen peroxide, if any fungicide at all. Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizing agent that decays into H2O, releasing oxygen in the process. In theory, this would rapidly accelerate the degradation of valuable compounds into undesirable compounds, for example, the oxidization of THC-A to CBN-A and its subsequent decarboxylation to CBN.
If you must, however, to answer your question no, it won't harm the trichomes just to wash in plain water. Plenty of people water cure, you aren't making bubble hash you're just rinsing!
