I'm still trying to work things out. So, thanks for the input.

I read somewhere. Far red before bed makes them go to "sleep" faster.

I wonder if having only a couple (always on) uv diodes in the mix would be worth it. I don't want too many. As I don't want to fry everything under them.
I think they use them more on a timer at just before lights off. A HPS bulbs goes red as its powering off.
UV can be bad to work under as well.

to be honest I don't know.

I did read on here recently that the cooling HPS bulb goes from the orange to a red colour (which is true) and this mimics the sun setting. ( I don't know if this is true)
The new light controllers can be set to a sun rise, sun set schedule but I’ve never seen one irl so I can’t comment on the effectiveness of it

Been awhile but I found it, great UV thread,

"Minimum of 36 inches off the canopy and timed in 15 minute spurts during the 4 middle hours of flower (to mimic high noon sun)

and the Pure UVB bulb is intense, you need to be able to shut it off if you are in the garden !!!

Trust me on this !!!!!"
Supplemental U.V is a tricky one, different U.V light has different effects on plants and some aren’t good. I’ve seen Jorge Cereventes ( I don’t agree with Some of his tips but he has got some good info) using a hand held U.V.C (I think it was C) light that the guys in Europe use for killing mould spores, that looked pretty cool.

I reckon most of the ones Bunnings sell must end up full of pot clones :)
I get weird looks from bunnings staff all the time. A young dude who buys copius amounts of gardening supplies is always suspect. I usually throw in a bag of vege seeds before check out so I don't get judged as much. I went in with my fuckwit mate once and he walked up to the garden desk and asked where they keep the marijuana plants.. Old loves face was speechless

Yeah definitely don't use a pure uv fluro bulb. You can feel them burning on your skin almost straight away.

I'm Preety sure fluresent bulbs put out small amounts uv because of the gas reaction that makes the light. I could be wrong
They make specialty bulbs like the ones that you see at raves and night clubs called Black Lights, they also use specialty ones for water purification where they run a thin film of water past a Fluro putting out u.v light (not sure but it may be C) that kills pathogens.

Yeah. I've overheard the staff at my local bunnings chattering behind my back. I do actually grow other stuff. I just haven't put in the usual effort in that department this time.

Yeah I have one in my fish tank filter. They also use it at skin care places and the girl shops where they clean your feet and nails or whatever it is they do
