Tasty LED Closeout and etc.

After a lot of though I have decided to shut Tasty LED down. I was going to announce it tomorrow giving those on my mailing list first dibs but the cat was out of the bag rather quickly. No big deal though and I do appreciate the heads up being posted here at RIU rather than somewhere else.

I'd like to thank my customers for supporting this project. Sales dropped off in '17 but ultimately I just don't get the same satisfaction building lamps as I used to, so on to other things. In addition to giving me the opportunity to do something I liked and make a few bucks at it I've also appreciated the comments of various customers, "built like a tank" and "bright as fuck" being the most common. :)

All the lamps are gone but the sale will go on until Dec 31st. There are still plenty of pin fin sinks, Meanwell drivers and Vero 29s. Everything is basically half price,

Vero29C $15 each
Vero29B $11 each
150mm sinks $10 each
133mm sinks $6 each
Meanwell drivers HLG 80H - 320H and LPF-90Ds for $17-45 each.

The sinks are tapped for Vero29 but for the money it could be worthwhile to drill and tap them for smaller emitters.

Note to those who placed orders yesterday, I have a ton of orders to ship. Please be patient and I will get the tracking numbers out in the next day or two.

Note to customers who placed orders prior to yesterday (failed to mention in newsletter), contact@tastyled.com will remain active and I'll be glad to address warranty issues until they expire. I've had a total of 4 warranty claims over the last 2 years, one of which was natural cause which I chose to honor anyway, so I suspect there will continue to be very few issues with the lamps.

How much is shipping to EU for 10 heatsinks?
I've never offered shipping to Europe because the shipping charge is crazy high. You will be better off finding a deal locally even if part cost is higher. I'm not sure about the US based DIY suppliers but Kingbrite and Cutter will probably have more reasonable shipping rates. Also worth checking, Renxin-Seiko at Alibaba may be able to offer reasonable shipping on small orders.

Ah, too bad. Yes, shipping and importing taxes are killing us in EU. Thanks anyway!

I see that! 1680w if you run them at 1050ma. Those sinks can handle more but I like the temps better at 1050.

Cheers

thanks for the tip. Im likely going to run 8 chips per hood at 1400ma active cooled. I already run 720w hoods with cxm-22s so I want them to kinda match wattage. Are they super inefficient or anything at that range? From what I can tell they are still quite good. Im no led guru though

They will output about 94 watts at 1400ma, 47-48% efficient so 44-45 par watts each. Around 18 par watts per square foot is going to be in the 1000 PPFD area so you could light about 60 square feet at 1000 PPFD using 24 at 1400ma.
