Samsung LED Double Striplight DIY Build

What kind and how many driver(s) for 15 of those strips. Wanna build a setup of 15 or 12 for my 90x120 tent
If you want to go with HLG drivers, I would use three HLG-240H-24A drivers, 5 strips on each one. Thats will get you 750W max. Though TBH, 90x120 would only need 10 strips, two drivers, 500W max.

First: Sorry to mess up your thread here.

Second: Would i maybe not need the HLG-240H-48A as these are the 559.70mm L x 39.80mm W. Im no electrician, thats for sure :)
Parallellwire all strips and then run at full blast?

Thanks again from the now not so cold Norway :)

Yes the double row strips are 46v so you would need the 240h-48. You could power 5 of them on 1000mA each giving you 230w of power per driver.

I know this is a little off topic but I'm a noob. I'm assembling my first led striplight, I've decided to go with the 4' Samsung f-series. I need to know how much space I should put between each strip? Anyone have advice for me?

It depends, but you should have them more space between them in the middle, and as you move closer to the wall, start grouping them a little tighter.

Not sure I understand, spacing depends on the size of grow space and number of strips used. Spread them out as much as the space allows, but doing as Aolelon suggests gives more even coverage and avoids a hot spot in the middle.

5 single row strips over 75cm frame is okay? So 15 cm from center of the strip to another center. I am covering 120x120 cm tent with 5 strips at 250W (HLG-240) and with 150W of 6x Citi 1212. So 75 cm of strips and I guess 45 cm of Citis.

I 'm assuming you have a 2x 4' tent or a similar open area..?
To even out the coverage inside a tent you need a spacing like this:
wall <2"||<6">||<8">||<6">||2">wall
( ||=1 strip, spacing is for a 24" or 2' wide tent)
Without walls I would recommend to put them closer together, because you would loose too much light without reflective walls. Between the middle pair of stripes should still be a bit more distance to avoid getting a hotspot in the center.

I have a room I'm in the process of finishing with the dimensions of 8'×12' I'm dedicating a 5'×6' portion to flowering that will give me 1.5' on each side to be able to walk around the girls. With the remaining 8'×6' I'll have a veg tent, a place to clone/germinate, the reservoir and controller for the waterfarm. The frame I plan on building for my flower area will contain 16 4' strips, with 2 hlg-480h-48b drivers supplying power.

Sounds like a smart idea. That's 30-35w/sft., with F-strips running @1400mA it's a hell lot of light. You can expect ~2,3μMol/j effiency from such a light, which is pretty good these days. There are only a few commercial growlights out there reaching the same degree of effiency, for instance the well known SpyderX 685w.

I really like that driver because it puts out 48v which is the max for those strips, and I can run 9 strips if they run 52 watts on average, however it only has a 10a output.

Sooooo I was thinking of adding a 9th light to that driver, if I did that and ran all the stripes at 1400ma I would need 12.6a output from each driver. My plan was to use a variable resistor to dim the lights for efficiency so at that point I wouldn't be using AS much amperage.

Is this a bad plan?

30-3w/ft² is pretty perfect, I would not change that. For dimming it would be easier to use a cheap 100k linear potentiometer. The cheapest are only 15ct, the better ones cost a few $. Solder such a poti to the dimmer wires, it's a lot easier as to work with different resistors.

Something like this. Choose the one with the highest resistance 110k would be ideal to sqeeze out the full potential of the driver.

Hi guys. I've just set my lights higher, and the heatsink frame is only about an inch from the hanging carbon filter.

Should I move it, or are the dust filters non-flammable? I'm going to move it I think.

P.s. The girls love the new lights !!

Happy growing.

Pretty sure they will not catching fire, lol! ... not at maximum possible 65°C!
Those filters mats are usually made of synthetic fibers, probably needs about 300°C to ignite.

Cheers Randomblame, bit of common sense. Lol.

Seriously though, since I've installed the new led strips, I've never seen stockier, bushy, healthy plants. Just flipped, and hoping for a decent harvest !!

Happy growing !
