DIY with Quantum Boards

I've been growing with a mars 600 (~250watts of blurple) in a 2x4 tent. Was a great light in veg, but I'm not happy with the penetration in flower.

Put in an order for a 260w quantum board kit last night, and pumped to see what it can do. Seeds are popping now, hopefully shipping/customs to Canada doesn't take too long! I might keep the mars in the tent for the heat it puts out, it's getting chilly up here. haha

Anybody know if there’s a heat sink available anywhere to fit 2 QB120s?
You can run them full power as is, I run 2 120s at ~60watts each and i can easily place my hand on back of board after they've been running for hours, no heat issues at all. Attach to some aluminum strips or angles if you're trying to make a 2 board fixture type thing. I have 8 120s total, I really dig'em.

I'm running 4 QB120 on a Meanwell 240-2100ma driver full blast with no heat sink. I've posted temp reading somewhere in this thread, it's around 33-35c.
The beauty of these imo that you get great light source w/o having to use heatsinks (for a non US based grower the shipping cost of the heatsinks is just too expensive)

Happy growing mate, your gonna love them QBs.

if you came here to learn something then learn this, that light will work. BUT, its inefficient, the build quality is suspect, and service if the light has a problem is a joke. Why do we tell you this? Because many of us made the same mistake in our early attempts at growing with cheap, chinese growlights. Also, the PAR and PPFD charts are wrong and misleading. did you see a brand name for the cobs? No, because they are low grade generic chips. I'll put my diy cob light against 2 of those any day and out grow them. I know because that's what it replaced, 2 "600 watt" ( another joke ) burple lights. I've grown way more bud with 60% LESS electricity. Sadly, when we buy these lights, we think we're saving money...... well we are not. I pays to do your homework before you buy.
So get a grow or two from them then upgrade to good lighting, you'll be amazed at the difference!

Cost me a total of 216 $canadien for 2 light so ill try them and see

I'm glad I didn't buy into all the LED hype early on. So many people with thousands of dollars of useless lights sitting in closets and my "crappy" HID paid for itself in one harvest... Anyway on a good note the flowering plants in my tent are responding amazingly to the QB boards and I have some renewed faith in LED lights. Plus I really enjoy not looking at HPS orange yellow

I have Ducksfoot clones and seedlings under my QB 120s. The clones have been in the humidity dome for 3 weeks. Ducks are a bitch to clone, I know, I've been at them for 2 years...my usual success rate is around 25% where as any other canna I get very high success rates. So I'm using everytrivk I know. Cab temp is around 80F I sprayed them with water 4 times a day for 17 days and kept the vents closed till 3 days ago. I opened the vents about a 1/4. I started spaying them clones once a day with Optic Foliar Overgrow.
Today, I found 6 clones with roots protruding! Transplanted 5 and will do the other in a day or two. These if successful will be pollinated by a male from seed I mad by crossing the local ducksfoot ( a whole other story.. ) with a male from seed I bought. I'm backcrossing to reinforce the local genetics. This will be BX1.

Potassium silicate like agsil 16h
Any bac. A bacteria will do like double nickel.
Bathe/dunk your fresh clones in a mix of both. Let your media sit in that same mix and spray your clones once a day with that same mix.

I worked with some very hard sativas to clone and this helped. Any indicas I would be at 100 percent. Difficult sativas about 80%

A few bud shots from day 43 / 44. I changed soil this run and turned the 4x 250w boards up full, its not perfect but its looking alright. Second run and these QB just pump out quality and quantity. My recent electricity bill is down and my gpw is up, buds are almost award winning . Thanks HLG

Was thinking of replacing my trusty 250w hps with 2xQB288's. Would it be overkill in a 3x1.5ft tent? Figured I could just run them a bit low to keep it cool and with a better light spread. Also what would be the best driver to run?

Thanks in advance.

2 QB would be prefect in that space. I'd say and HLG240H-C2100b would be good. It would give about a max of 125 watts per board. I'd dim it to 150 watts for that space. At 150 watts you'll have twice the light of that old HPS and less IR heat.

Friday night lights :

3x3 has some new tenants..... Peyote cookies / Candy Dream / White Dwarf
Rig has been purring along , comfy temps - all day . Running around 60% power across COBS and BOARDS ... I have to line the tents again this weekend with the Mylar as I did before that Teardown for the holidays ....

Peyote and Candy are happy , but that god damn Dwarfy is looking sad and twisted.
I have some solo cups sprouting two other plants that one of those might replace that sad little shit if it doesn't do any better in the next week. It was a freebie- so I am not that attached to it.

Forgive the pics - plants are not as light as they show ... Shitty iPad brightens it up.

Thanks much, picked up the QB288 +slate 2 kit.

Figured it would give me a bit of flexibility down the line if I ever want to run them in single configuration and easy to set up in a pair (have access to full shop, drill press etc)

Also got a amazon gift card for Christmas so I'm looking at picking up your recommendation

Hey, day 54f update here,
Struggling with humidity, it's around 55% at the moment and trying to keep it around these values. I believe that we have another 7-10 days before I'll chop them down. Due to a very limited hight restraint 4-5 of the plants that are under the cobs bleached their top flower, nothing too major tho. Got to remember for next time, don't be lazy and lolipop as you should.. but hey, that will be a great dub run with those popcorn buds at the bottom.

Pics were taken this morning, finally got the flash to work
