Carbon filter w/fan placement. Is this correct? (picture)

Hello all! I recently added a carbon filter with a fan to help with the smell. I placed it up above my grow, is this the correct spot? Im not using and ducting and just going to recirculate the air.

Also i have another question on how the filter/fan works. Is the fan suppose to "suck" air in and blow it out through the filter, "cleaning" the air? Just wanna make sure im understanding it correctly lol.

The fan should pull air through the filter, I would run ducting to outside but that will work to an extent.

Crap i just reread your post, so i should NOT be blowing air INTO the filter?
