Anyone keep mothers in indirect sunlight only?

Just wondering how feasible this is. Would really slow down growth i bet, but is it enough light to keep a plant healthy?

It is possible to "stall" a cannabis plant and still keep it alive and capable of becoming reinvigorated if you improve those conditions later on.

Friends would start lots of seedlings for outdoor hiking activities and inevitably some would remain in the beer cups as a contingency plan well past the time they could have been transplanted. This was done to accommodate limited space and prevent things from getting too big and be easier to transport to the bush when their turn finally came.

If limited space is the issue for your mother(s), and you'd like to keep it alive but not growing like nuts, give it a few hours of decent light so it can continue to photosynthesize and the rest of the time more indirect light. Keep the container size small too.

thanks

no so much space limited as wanting to slow growth, as long as plant is healhy.

would have to supply several hours of supplemental light anyway to keep them from flowering.

Permanent wind on them will achieve this.
I'd wondered about that. It's probably a good idea, but I figured if you constantly renew their air, it might help to accelerate, rather than slow their growth. I'm all ears though if you tried it and it worked for you. Always good to know what has worked for others and why.

A bad plan, your clones will suffer, you want your moms pumping under a full veg light which is like half of full flower light to get happy health rooted clones in 7/8 days. Your stunting plan will cause you fits while cloning.

Unless you are not planning on taking cutting for more than 2 months, then ya fill your boots

I think a better plan is to just keep cutting them way back .I have had moms on the back shelf that I would cut down to 8 inches of hight to save space

There was a writeup on keeping bonsai mums here somewhere.
Root pruning and all.
I know its not what op was asking but
If you are limited space and need to store some.

That's probably a better approach for a mother plant.

The plant will live but you'll end up with a spindly plant and poor quality cloning material.

The wind method sounds interesting. I've seen how trees on the Oregon coast are stunted and do look like bansai plants. I always knew that was due to the wind but never even thought about it causing the same characteristics in cannabis. Nothing I'm going to try but still interesting.

Ive stopped keeping moms
I clone the bottom branches of my veg before flowering. If something happens in cloning , you can always MC to save the strain.
Doing this allows me to grow a lot of different strains at once.
i keep 8 grow sites, 4 flower , 4 veg harvesting every 15days (give or take)

If I need to slow some down I keep them in smaller pots , if I want to speed some up they get transplanted into bigger pots .

Trying to keep a lot of moms for a rotating design was a lot of work keeping moms pruned n clean wanting for there next round, I was throwing more cuts in the garbage then I was cloning.
