DIY with Quantum Boards

I tried 80/20 inc extruded, it was a bit too big and heavy, and there's no M3 screws with M3 T-nuts that fit it.

Ended up using markerbeam extruded beams.

Stainless button head allen screws.

Stainless T-nuts.

These for the hangers.

It's still a WIP.
wow, amazing, i was going to either by a sheet of aluminum or plywood to mount the QBs - but now i think i'm going to follow your lead and go with those, thanks for sharing :D

Hey everyone it’s been a while since I posted on here. I have a question for Stephenj37826 and the RIU Community. I have a HLG 550 that I bought almost a year ago. mine runs off 2 HLG 240-1050a drivers and has fin heat sinks which I like. I love my light and has never given me one problem! But this morning I went down to check my humidifier and see if it was filled. Anyway when I looked I seen the temperatures at 66° and looked at the light and only one side was lit up? So I unplugged it from the timer and plugged it back in and they both were lite. I don’t understand why that would happen as all the connections were fine and have never moved my light from my 4x4. I just hope I don’t have problems down the road. Does anyone know what it might have been that would make one side go out? Thanks everyone

Happy Growing!
So there could be many different things going on. do you have a multimeter? I would have to guess that the circuit shorted out, recheck all connections and look to see if your wires on the circuit have exposed wire. This is where the meter comes in handy if there is exposed wire then a continuity test will let you know that there is a short. But if all that checks out I would monitor your driver to see how hot it is getting, heat is what shortens a drivers lifespan, and can cause them to shut off

I recall reading on here a while ago on problems popping up with timers with more than one light plugged in them. but not sure if it applies here. 619kt619 touched on some good advice.

I was going to say timers also. The drivers have a high, inrush current when they first power on. In fact, its recommended to only have 2 on a circuit as they can cause the circuit breaker to blow. I imagine they can be rough on a timer. I don't trust timers as it is, so I keep several spares, I've had a few fail. I

Its possible that itts a driver, but that seems to be rare with quality drivers.

My friend has copper wire wrapped around his driver along with an aqua pearl hot/cold pack overtop of that and with more copper wire on top of the heat pack (electrical tape to hold everything together). he swears by that, was the sort of things he built with spare stuff from his house/garage and has used ever since then 2-3 years --> for cooling the driver

if you need that much cooling for an led driver then throw the driver away.

Do you see anyone here, doing crap like that? I'm sorry to be blunt, but your friend is an idiot. If he's into DIY, a computer fan and a 12V power supply would have been easier and would work MUCH better. Please don't take advice from that guy...............

I have to agree. That sounds like a dumb idea. Especially with all the air we circulate in our grows.

he mcgivers pretty much everything lol - lemme put it this way, he has used a spaghetti strainer as a pot for his plants in the past - i rather buy the proper equipment from the get go

hes not a serious grower its the sort of thing he does randomly for fun when he has a few bagseeds, he does have a tiny space tho, uses about the lower half of his closet. so not much room for cooling

WELP .... Choppy chop time ( next few days ) for the White Dwarf .

I really used to give these Dwarfy / Low Ryder type seeds away cuz didn't give them much thought. BUT ....... Since I'm the main consumer ( Dog is a pothead ) , I figured I would give it a go. It is an auto , and it was moved because of space.
But flowered nicely even though I changed cycle at mid flower til harvest. I think it had an average 65-67 day finish anyways.

1 gallon AirPot
Peat soil mix
Dr.Earth
Quantum Grow lights ...

3500k initial seed to week 5 ( 18/6 )
12/12 flip to harvest ( 3000k / 4000k )

For those still on the fence about Quantums , pull the trigger , you will find many other growers with killer crops and results . I built the rigs to power up to a healthy 4x4 size , if needed ( I only USE 3x3 ) so I have more than enough room to grow. Now that I noticed the possible QB 11 reds , I can ADD this into any of my DIY without much effort. I am also looking at @Growmau5 red puck - inexpensive upgrade. Even those beautiful timber rigs could be supplemented with strips and boards.

White Dwarf is some kind of Indy mashup ( Buddha seeds )
Short / compact
Shorty branching
Spice/Fruit smell
Pretty colors

Note to self - keep these seeds for myself ...lol

Can we talk about how bushy this bitch is? had some pH related lockout on this girl followed immediately by some nute burn. She is recovering after some doctoring and holy shit has she gotten bushy.
My original plan to scrog was disrupted by the lockout so basically she has just been topped twice and I'm using the net to spread the tops out a bit. Normally the only pruning I do is lollypopping but I may have to make an exception for this one. This light is killing it even with a ton of grower error. 20180312_222142.jpg 20180312_223207.jpg
