How can we more effectively prevent mass shootings?

Curtail gun culture. It's a fuzzy thing but sometimes that's just the way it is. Start by making high powered weaponry very difficult to obtain. Curtail advertising in all forms like they did with tobacco. Tobacco used similar imagery to promote the ruggedly individualistic cowboy to convey their meaning.

Sadly, any laws passed will have a diminished immediate effect due to the number of guns already out there and the success of the NRA in promoting gun ownership as a patriotic virtue. But we have to start somewhere.

Repeal the Dickie amendment. Study the problem. It's complicated and the answers are not clear.

I would like to see a law that requires the heirs of gun owners to register their weapons and submit to background checks with criminal penalties for violators. Guns live longer than people.

It will take time. It won't be likely to have immediate results. It will take resolve to succeed.

I am not optimistic.
There is enough high-powered weaponry to last indefinitely. You will have to collect existing firearms.

Water bongs and dildos are what I expect the left to bring to the door step the first day of firearm confiscation.

I know it sounds nuts. And pretty much impossible. But iam saying it..and ive said it for years. Stop reporting on it. Stop reacting to it. Stop paying attention to what just happened. Again...impossible. Cats already out the bag. But you just dont feed it. It promulgates on itself. Like a snake eating its own tail. Much like Nazis holding a demonstration in some town. Ive said it before. Just have no one show up. Streets are dead. You do just the opposite of counter protests that often turn violent. You dont feed it. If the town is dead...tumbleweeds when they show up..every one stays home. They can only shout with the bullhorn to each other fer so long. Then they pack it up amd go home. The Nazis need reaction and any energy to keep going. Dont give em that. Just like the ole saying..."what if they called for a war and nobody came"???

guns arent the root of the problem, they are only a means to commit the crime, people and culture are the root of the problem.....look at countries with low or 0 mass shootings and how their cultures set a high moral standard

Corporations are good at crafting laws and providing distractions.

How large was the fine for setting up "Advanced Down-hole technology training center" for Putin during the sanctions?

$5 Billion is a small price to pay to set up China's future Oil needs.
Exxon loves the uneducated more then Trump.
The Courts have proven that fact.

If 97% of mass shooters were K2 users would we dismiss the experimental drug use as
a contributing factor in the crime?
97% of mass shootings in the last 20 years in America began with experimental drug use, should we discount that fact?

It's a reasonable assumption that some peaceful and presently law abiding people will NOT acquiesce and follow laws which will criminalize them once something they now legally own, a gun, is declared verboten.

In that case the law enforcers will have to initiate gun violence to enforce the law. Something I've pointed out ad nauseum, yet no gun grabber has the acumen to address.

The gun grabbers ignore violence or threats of violence when enforcers use guns to back the things they like. So they're not really against violence or guns, (since dildos are ineffectual to enforce laws ) they're against people disobeying them and they're willing to use guns to get their way.

Control freaks and poor debaters to boot.

Interesting point.

Even more irony, prescription drugs are only (legally) available from licensed Doctors etc. , made by regulation protected Corporations, both of which hold a kind of forcible monopoly backed by threats of gun use (laws) for those who go against them.

Some people don't see gun uses when the gun uses aren't on a first level presence and they have become normalized to the prevailing societal second level gun threats etc.

That could help in the long run, but I'm not sure of your plan to achieve it?

Although in the heat of a live situation, would you rather be hiding under a desk, or would you rather be able to have the ability to defend yourself ?

Also, do you think there is any correlation that many mass shootings happen around government institutions like schools?

Arm the teachers n have em shoot back
The teachers, in a sense, ALREADY are armed. Just not in a first level way that they can effectively use defensive force as suggested (sarcastically?) by your post. This is true, since they are indisputably funded by offensive force tactics, backed by threats of gun use for noncompliance.

Many of the shootings occur at government schools. Those schools are culturally normalized to gather their funding from threats of gun use. That's also indisputable by the way.

When that kind of contradiction exists and becomes normalized, do you think that has any effect on society?
