Oh no your too mean for me to show you my AWESOME GROWS huh Kingrow is that your excuse now? fucking loser
I added a 85 watt 5000K CFL and a shop light for heat....almost summer and 90 degrees outside yet with room closed off and vent from central air closed still have hard time getting to 85. I n winter I used 2 shop lights and added 102 watt 2700K cfl. Was able to take one shop light out (initially took both out but since put one back). My main lights are Rapid Led, Blurple, Kind flower bar (half price now). So, is there anyone in here like me who actually uses the heat from the bulbs as a supplemental heat source?
I have a tiny veg cabinet with a 250W MH that stays on 24/7 and when it gets really cold I add a heat mat under the plants to keep them happy.
Of course I live in a fairly cold climate, and my cabinets are located in outbuildings on my property. I like the idea of running LED's but I've got this system dialed in over the past 12yrs or so and I'm scared I'd have to add more heat sources to the mix.
Well, I don't have a horse in this fight but I can tell you that yield right there is the same as my last run with 2.2kw hps. So half the wattage, same yield (3lbs), I'm happy. Additionally I did not have the ceiling height for DE. Things to consider. Its not hard to rip pics of a 1000watt hps grows that will make those thirty look like royal dwarf strains. As said many times the king is the 1000w De, if peeps want to say cmh is better thats there bag but as to leds, pull the other one, most pics are of small fluffy buds that have very little depth.
Id rather be called a dumbass by led growers than back down to their stupidity, seven years and every year they have been wrong and had to change somthing because their yeilds didnt match those far out claims, idiots that just ruin it for the rest...!
Thanks, just under 5 weeks...Seedsman seeds...Maui from Nirvana...Can't hardly wait to see em in couple of weeks!Nice nugs for the wattage!!!!
Ac kick on at all? lolWell, I don't have a horse in this fight but I can tell you that yield right there is the same as my last run with 2.2kw hps. So half the wattage, same yield (3lbs), I'm happy. Additionally I did not have the ceiling height for DE. Things to consider.
That's the other thing. It would be too hot to run my HPS all summer, but I can with my QBs.Ac kick on at all? lol

Im merely average but one easily noticed thing is the better ive got theceasier it is to run hps cause use to be a point where it fried everything but now plants love it
These are great pics to compare for you king. These buds look more healthy and dense because his ambient temp is likely in a more suitable range (all be it a little too cold). However you can see some actual heat stress on the upper leaves due to having the lights so close. If he had your ambiants and kept the lights that close I would not want to see the result, certainly would not smoke it even for free. Yes maybe their is some time between the two cycles but even with that in mind that's how the two growers results look to me.Canopy temp partly. I'm in Autumn and my canopy temp is about 20C at this height, if I went higher my canopy temp would probably be less ideal.
I think the "blocks light distribution" is a moot point if we are in a reflective tent. I have pulled a pound from a single 600HPS in a 3.5 x 4 ft Scrog and as we know Scogs are all about the tops. I'm no expert and this was my first indoor run in like 25 or so years.

That's why my flower light is a HPS. If I went LED for it id have to run a heater. So, is there anyone in here like me who actually uses the heat from the bulbs as a supplemental heat source?

Thank you mate, I grow in an uninsulated outbuilding (shed). So I just have to make do with what I have. Its not a large enough grow to consider AC. I'm in an illegal country.@Purpsmagurps

Not that those buds are bad Lucky, they look very nice and dense considering your battle with temps.
Since king has not provided any evidence to advocate using hps within inches of plants I feel the need to warn new growers and yourself to never do it when you have your ambient temps in the correct zone. No good grower I have ever read up on keeps lights that close and except for extreme circumstances like luckys.. you will not like the results, trust me.

Working with constant high temps under hps is doable but I've only ever seen it truly stand out once. It was a guy on these forums and he was getting high yield. He noted that his area had an unusually high co2 count and I personally assume that was one of the lucky factors for him. Most other people by all accounts would run into trouble with the summer temps he had (into the 90's if I recall).Thank you mate, I grow in an uninsulated outbuilding (shed). They were grown over summer, so they had the odd 40c flowering temps.
90f is only 32c. I see hotter (as does most of Australia) in summer.Working with constant high temps under hps is doable but I've only ever seen it stand out once.
