Vacuum pump overheating?

My vacuum pump gets way to hot! I’m using a temp gun and it is over 100 degrees Celsius! If you touch it you literally burn your hand! Is this normal or is this way too hot? I’m at literally been on 30-45 mins max

Not normal, is it the pump housing that's getting that hot? If it's the motor getting that hot it will definitely not last as long as you want it to.

The fan bit is cool! But Then the rest is red hot! Is it dangerous?

If the motor windings heat up too much it could cause a fire, or cause noxious fumes. Is the part right after the fan hot? That's the motor.

It’s a cheaper pump soo this may be the problem? It used to get hot but never this hot! 100c is way to hot imo
Yup.those things aren't meant to be run continuously like that.i've got a b.value pump sitting in the barn for the same exact reason(and it puffed a little smoke out of the exhaust)not sure I like the idea of a oil driven pump in my lab setup anyways

Yeah, those pumps are junk brother.dont feel bad,I was fooled as well.i bought the whole kit,pump/vac chamber.they really know how to package it up quite appealing though.i watched an appliance guy use the same style pump on a refrigerant line lol.like I said, not something I want to use around something I will be making edibles with.

I find it hard to find good information on the internet as I don’t know anyone doing this sort of thing! What pump would you recommend? Money ain’t really a problem but not looking to spend over 300£ As it’s only really used to personal use;)

There’s a store literally 10 mins drive from where I am! I just don’t think there knowledge of bho would be any greater than mine tho:( sucks that I have to teach myself this stuff! Why can’t I know a old dude who has been doing this for years and can teach me as his apprentice lmao! But maybe one day I can be that old dude!!

Whoops . If you wanna get your hands dirt you could look into the pump motor yourself. If it’s heat you’ll be able to see where it’s coming from visually. It’s prob from friction maybe the love joy or what ever they used for connection in the motor isn’t close enough and the teeth are slipping?.
