My ballast is just a cheapo Growlush magnetic. Cheapo bulbs as well.

I think it was @Dr. Who, who said he found no difference between expensive bulbs and cheap bulbs
The most expensive aren’t always the best but the cheapest are always the worst. Biggest issue I see with most guys is they hang onto to their bulbs too long, I like to swap mine after every second run so about 8-10 weeks

i just pieced together the components needed for a 300w Cob LED and it comes to around $650. thats really not too bad when you consider you wont be buying bulbs again. thats using top of the line cree LED's as well im sure u could do it cheaper if u wanted to.

out of interest for myself i pieced together a 800w to cover a 1.5m tent at around $1500 which is actually pretty bloody good considering they are asking $1500 for the double 315w dpap CMH i am currently using (although i only paid half that at the time i bought it)

I liked the fact that cobs didn't need to be replaced every couple grows. I also liked that they didn't pump out lots of heat. Thus not requiring a dedicated AC unit to keep things from cooking.

Cobs have filled in a gap in the market really well but they were never designed as a horticultural light, it’s a credit to the original COB guys that they were able to do so well with them considering the lack of resources around at the time.
Whoever tells you you need A/C if you
are using HID has no idea what they are talking about, yes it’s a good idea but by no means essential.

i agree, i even did 1 grow with an A/C at one stage but it drove the power bill up so much and had little effect on the garden i didnt bother doing it again

I’ve got one for the new grow because I’m using DE fittings and Co2. Running all the lights of solar Batteries so power isn’t a real concern either

They tend to stay a bit fluffy and not harden up in the humidity aswell
I'll plant the 4 bodhi seeds outdoors this year and see what happens. Got plenty of spots. Got 3 skylotus and 2 josh dog seedlings out bush in greenhouses. So hope fully I get a male from both and cross over each other. Also want to do a josh dog x josh dog to keep the strain pure after seeing how much breeding went into it.

Not sure about their 600’s but I used Digimax 1000’s for a few years and they were top lights,a grow shop in the U.S did some tests and they outdid the Hortilux Blues and they cost about 1/3 less
So my heads been ticking all day bout the light thing still. Out of curiosity, in that pic^^ what about the outsides of the plants where u can see it looks darker?
Coukd I just put a couple of lights on the floor too?
Oh and why don’t u use Digimax anymore?
*oh I just read on and see why u don’t use em now

What’s the difference between a 630 cmh and the 315w sun storms?? They are nearly the same price... what would be best for 4x4?
630’s are either dual SE bulbs or dual arc tube DE bulbs.
Not sure but I’d say a 630 for anything less than $600 wouldn’t be using a Phillips bulb or a name brand ballast.
315 would veg a 4x4 but I reckon it wouldn’t be enough on its own in that space. As a guide a 600 HPS can do a 3x3,1000 HPS 4x4 and 100 DE will do 5x5 if you are only running 1 light once you have multiples the numbers change.

I had mine on those round pot holders with wheels and turned them 90 degrees each day or you use mesh to train them and prune the backs

Yeah I was thinking of putting a 630w in my flower tent... I got like 1200w of led def not 1200 true watt I’m guessing it’s like 250 or true watt, I’m happy with the results but i can def realise there is more potential there
