Joe Crowley spent 10x's as much on his campaign, backed by huge corporate donors and Wall Street, than Ocasio-Cortez

57% to 42%

She didn't just beat him, she obliterated him, and now his corrupt ass gets sent packing so an actual progressive can represent the people of the 14th

This is probably the biggest win so far from progressive backed candidates created through grassroots organizing, and as it shows, it can be done. The moderates here who've consistently stood by their blind faith in corporate donors claiming Democrats have to accept corporate, lobbyist, or PAC money have just been proven wrong, and this is just the beginning.

Crowley was one of the top folks inside of the dem party

Its huge, he lost even though he had the backing/funding of the established dem party
So much for that narrative

Establishment Dem's claimed they couldn't win without accepting corporate cash and PAC money, Ocasio-Cortez didn't and just beat one of the top Democrats in the House..

...So what say those same establishment Democrats now?

In Missouri, the main battle seems to be Josh Hawley, our AG and "constitutional lawyer" who recently refused to acknowledge that the 14th ammendment applied to immigrants, against Claire McCaskill in our senate race. It's a horrible decision to have to make, but I'm going to have no choice but to do my part on McCaskill's behalf.

Hawley has attached himself to Trumpian politics and refused to launch a state investigation into our recently disgraced ex-governor.

Nothing. Both Pelosi and Schumer are too busy defending Trump against Maxine Waters.

Seriously...

They thought she wasn't a threat because

didn't have the $$$
mainstream media wouldn't even promote her

The people have spoken/their action helped her win

There's always more room under the bus.

i'm happy for ya but don't get too far ahead of yourself. this is one seat in perhaps the most diverse and progressive district in the nation.

(psssst - also, she ran on identity politics. GASP!)

How do you explain Crowley's loss to a 28 year old who has never ran a political campaign before, who had no party support, who spent less than 10 x's the amount of money as he did?

You guys have said Democrats have to accept corporate money to win, how did she win without it and without party support?

have you looked at the district she was running in or nah

How do you think the established dems are going to get along with some of the progressives ?
I think it depends on how threatened they feel. If they feel a little threatened, they'll be nasty. If they feel very threatened, they'll be conciliatory.

What I'd really like to see is the dawning realization along the Democratic Party that taking the money and ignoring the people is dangerous to their ongoing survival.

The reality is that Crowley was exposed early on as being corrupt (less than 1% of his political contributions come from constituents), and Ocasio-Cortez delivered a perfect campaign built on progressive policy and was able to get people to come out to vote for her even though she spent 10 times less than Crowley, and without any help from the Democratic party
