@shawn75can thanks buddy!!!Very nice setup.
The fan leafs are not removed just to grow back new fan leafs. This is a fairly new technique to me that I've been trying out, one could you imagine how dense the canopy would be with fan leafs if I did not do the strip. With that said bud site after bud site would be covered with fan leafs, I like my bud sites to have light. From my experience with this intense leaf strip you get better developed buds from the top all the way to the bottom, so less larfy buds! I would only do this leaf strip in a situation where you have maximized your canopy space, It helps with air flow in the room too. I can't quite say my yield has increased but I can say I have better lower buds than before. Give it a try and see how it does for you.I still dont get it. So you remove all the leafs, to get a week recovery time, just for them to grow back more leafs?
What am i missing?
Nice grow btw perfectly heathy
Can I take it that you did a GML leaf strip on some OG?ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so nice,
and for the record, OGs hate defoliation, I can tell ya that much,lol. I wont ever leaf strip again. 30% difference,
Very nice light set up...Good afternoon everyone, so I plan to do my best to document this veg and flower cycle from start to finish with my DIY LED rigs. I have built 2 rigs each composed of 6 HLG QB304s with a mix of 3k and 4k in staggered placement to give a mixed spectrum. I have them powered with 6 hlg-240h-c1050a drivers. 2 boards per driver. Which puts my rigs at about 900watts from the wall a piece. So here are what the rigs look like:
Nice light set up aolelon. What area your specs? Boards, drivers, watts, potentiometer? Also bulb in the middle, uv or ir? I'm planning on doing a strip light build hopefully after these next two cycles. Currently have a cheap 6 cob full spectrum white light drawing around 300w at the wall and getting another one August 1st to finish this grow up with. Grow is in my grow journal.It's extremely easy, as shown by plenty of people. All you need is a drill, and some aluminum angle iron from a hardware store. Plus it helps you acquire skill for future projects. It's not massively time consuming to build a setup simple frame to house HLG heatsinks, or strips. It can easily be done in a day or two.
I feel that anyone with two hands, and can drill a hole, would be able to make their own frame to mount heatsinks too.
I'm a member of another forum, and there are people who are building their own frames, with zero prior experience of doing anything of the sort before. So I know if they can pick it up, most people can.
I did this light in a couple hours. Nothing special, but it works for me.

Its 2 3000k QB v1 288s and 2 4000k QB v2 288s. I'm using 2 240h-c2100A so no potentiameter, as they are internal. And the t5 in the middle is for an agromax Pure UV bulb.Nice light set up aolelon. @Humple i was once so against this drastic defoliation, like where will photosynthesis occur? However after seeing and hearing about this technique I decided to try it, this is not the first time for me. I started this method with one plant, then a few plants, then half the room, and now I'm convinced that the bud development from top to bottom is way better when applying this technique, so a lot less larfy buds!
I agree with you on the strip. I've stripped mine 3 times so far. New growth comes back within a week, and if you look just from the top down on the canopy it looks like they weren't touched at all... Will be stripping again just before I flip 'em and then again 3 weeks into flower. Your grow looks awesome...@Humple i was once so against this drastic defoliation, like where will photosynthesis occur? Thanks. Set up is producing excellent. Need help manicuring and taste testing? Lol...Its 2 3000k QB v1 288s and 2 4000k QB v2 288s. I'm using 2 240h-c2100A so no potentiameter, as they are internal. And the t5 in the middle is for an agromax Pure UV bulb.
It has a max of 550w and can be dimmed to 173w,
Relax buddy...would you prefer that I use a different term to describe the intense leaf strip??? If so what would be a better term to use? It's really not that serious to make a post about, but I'm glad your here in this thread reading. Happy growing everyone!GML leaf strip and topping, come on guys really, it's been done for years before internet.
Well spoken, like a true Buddhist, bro.. Namaste..Relax buddy...would you prefer that I use a different term to describe the intense leaf strip??? If so what would be a better term to use? Thank you for clearing the air. I know with "text" words can be interpreted in the wrong way all the time due to lack of expression. I don't think he is here for bad intent either. I use the term GML strip more as a description more so than the actual name of the technique. I personally like to refer to it as an intense leaf strip. Hopefully no one is offended and we can all play nice. Cheers fellows.Well spoken, like a true Buddhist, bro.. Namaste..
The term GML leaf strip and topping sounds like it's his invention but in fact it is one of the oldest LST techniques ever and is used by many gardeners around the world since a long time. For me it does not matter much as long as I know what is meant. But yea, sometimes there is anyone who is bothered or just find it funny.. I would call it normal forum talk he certainly has no bad intent.
