Extremely bad germination rate in rockwool

Hello,

4 Days ago i tried to germinate Sensi NL and Dinafem's Purple afghan kush 3 seeds each, I put those seeds to soak in
tap water at 6.3PH and 350ppm for a hour~, Rockwool cubes soaked for 6 hours in pH 5.5 and 350ppm, 24C,
Once everything was ready i did a little hole about a half inch deep , soaked it in pH 5.8 , 24C, and 0.1ml of GHE bio root on 1 liter of water (pH of course after mixing the nutes) and then put the seeds there in the hole and covered it a little, i put the rockwool cubes in aeroponic propogator at humidity of 90~80% and temps of 26-30c covered with a lid, no direct light on the seeds.

It should already show sign but so far nothing :(

Hope somebody can tell me if idid something wrong?
What should i try next?

Any ideas / opinions?

P.S 2 days ago i checked the runoff pH it was 6.2pH which is still should be ok i guess.

P.S 2, What is the cheapest way to chill water?

I dumped RW many years ago. You can buy coco pellets, which expand once they are soaked in water. Now, if you overwater them you will still kill your seedlings. I use an eye dropper until I see the tap root come out of the bottom, then I move them into netpots with coco inserts and sidefill with coco

4 days ins't too long, I've had a seed take longer than 10 days.

IMO, you don't need to go crazy with all the preliminaries, I just use a damp paper towel in the baggie thing, when I see a root, I plant in a peat pellet (I tried RW, but failed miserably) with 90% success.

Weed doesn't need ph water or nutes for a week anyway.

"runoff"? - damp not wet.

Good luck

I soaked it and gave it a little shake so its damp.
I hope time will do its own thing.

Here how I do germination.
Burpee 36 cell ten day self watering tray with rapid rooters and a heat mat. Pop in said seeds and within two days they’re coming up.

If you put the seeds on the damp napkin the roothairs, which are near invisible, will weave their way into it. when you remove the seed a lot of harm can be done

You might find this funny. Just want to share whats been working for me. When I was a kid, we got taugth to germinate seeds in school. Around 6 years old if my memory serves me right. It was all super basic and super exiting at the time. When I got older I didnt know any better when I got my first cannabis seeds. And It worked. Never looked back  what we did was take a small glass and put cotton up to half way in it. Small as in shot glass size. Fill water up to the level of the cotton and let it swell. Then place the seed on the top of the cotton. Seal the glass with that stickie plastic everyone have in the kitchen. And punch some 8 holes in it with a needle. As long as I got a nice 77f-83f temp, it germinates in anything from 1 to 10 days if its not a dud. Today 2 of 5 ladyburn popped, and I set them up yesterday. One of them looks really eager to grow. :)

Old seeds is the worst case.

I think i will just go for fresh pack of seeds.

Bad luck with sensi and dinafem...

Sometimes some seeds take time
.....

If you pick your cubes up they should almost feel dry .....after i soak my cubes you "flick" not squeeze the blocks to get rid of excess water

I flick my block 3-6 times they should not be dripping wet almost dry (you can weigh em if you wana get crazy)

This increased my germ rates a ton with rockwool as they can easily dampen off with too much moisture.

Now i LOVE germing in rockwool lol

Get some cheap veagatable seeds to practice with that way its 2 bucks if you fuck up :)

This will let you get the feel for the medium without killing any mj seeds......and you can grow a salad ;)

Thanks for the advice.

I flick mine too till i feel it gets light and air pockets,
I think that i made too tight holes and overdo unnecessary things.

Hope some will live.

wao no one is using tissue paper method anymore, well, the key is temperature, lost 3 expensive seeds of one strain, while other 6 strains germinated without a problem. i would drop the seeds in a glass of water. My ro water comes at 7+ph, never mind, 12 to 16 hrs, once they cracked open and you see the white stuff inside, drop em on to a plate in tissue paper, not dripping wet, just slightly squeeze the extra water out, and let it be damp. All 3 seeds that were lost, they all cracked open, but nothing after that, the 4th one did that too, and i placed that plate above an cfl light, which in turn made the plate hot, temp has to be around 30C, and guess what, i came out of that stuck state, You need a heating mat. After this discovery, i have 100% germination rate. Keep it warm and it will pop out, 3 day i have a tap root. And before that i was scared to death to germinate a seed. Temp is the key, and different seeds have different temp requirements.
Same goes for clones

Ive had 5/5 bag seeds grow and 2/5 dinafem blue cheese grow. Youll never know how long vendors are carrying seeds for. Ordering newer starins can help or knowing an honest vendor locally.

My experience has been pretty good overall with seed companies but i dont stray too far off good brand beaten paths. But honestly bag seeds grow better lol. Just recently i popped 2 mephistos and a gsc bag seed but ive had 6 med man brand west coast sour diesel not even throw a tap root after 5 days . Mephistos a really good conpany so i almost knew theyd come up but it shows you whose got viable seeds.

I use a 72 cell or 36 cell seedling dome, i hate peat pellets i just full the trays with pro-mix organik. I usually pull the mat off and the dome after the second day, they can get too hot. Make a small hole drop the seed in and get 10ml of water in a syringe and water her in

Yep i get good rate usually

From a 1-4 hr soak then right into cubes that i have saturated in what ever i want to use at thw time.

Ive run heat and no heat .... dome vs no dome.

So many variables with the seeds themselves...
Grow environment ect ect...

I cant do the tissue method they either damp out
Or get beat up during transplant

I prefer to let them pop in the cubes :)

I added 55w cfl under the surface with thermostat controller so it won't heat too much, I set it to 30c.
Hope it will help to maintain temp in the germinating area.

Its already 7 days still only one popped.
If in two-three days nothing will change i think by then the seeds may be considered dead or unviable ....
