Hmm! One question comes into my mind. Do they really store all the energy in just two hours..? To my understanding they need up to 2h to switch in rest mode w/o far-red EoD? Maybe the storages are not completely filled in 6h and they use just enough to allow the leaves to store new energy? That CO2 claims sounds also plausible. In soil transpiration is reduced by at least a third with added CO2.
I myself use often a 12+2h lighting regime in veg but more to save energy. Such a cycle cause some pre-stretch and the plants are closer to the flowering stage so the switch goes a little faster.
Its maybe worth a try.
A try can not hurt and if you use identical clones you can easily find out what works better. If it is useful, why not?
It would even protect LEDs and driver, lol!
