totally off point but let me put a word in for a relatively unknown treasure

Winchester bay, Oregon at the very tip of where the Umpqua river meets the ocean is a small oyster farm that produces the best oysters from the cleanest of waters. The Umpqua is 110 miles of some of the cleanest waters in the lower 48, famous for its salmon, steelhead and sturgeon fisheries. The oysters from this farm have a coppery-briny taste that I've never found anywhere else. Simply wonderful. I've been known to spend a weekend in the area just so I could taste those oysters. The name of the oyster farm is Triangle oyster farm, so named because it sits in a breakwater at the tip of the confluence of the Umpqua and is shaped like a triangle.

LA sucks. As much as I like the location, San Diego metropolitan area is totally fucked up. I grew up in San Francisco Bay Area and don't miss it either.

Yah, give me good regulations, planning and zoning any day. We in Oregon have a system that requires cities to define urban boundaries that limit their growth, forcing them to develop within those boundaries rather than sprawl. A drive through the Willamette Valley is a good demonstration of how it works to protect rural areas from urban sprawl. I wish California had learned from Oregon before they killed off some of their most productive and scenic areas. But, too late.
