sure man, send a pm. i'm not an expert but i've only gotten rot once and that was enough.

there is a good thread here if you search for it: jijiandfarmgang how to run a sterile reservoir
K thx dude.

So just added 5ml sag per 10 gallons water. At this point I think I'll actually be surprised if I see any results. Other than my roots my water looks terrible now compared to what it looked like before. Fingers crossed though.

I don't want to panic here but with in the 10hrs of doing my res change this morning my roots have taken a massive turn for the worst. Totally getting mushy and slimy again. I hate to say it but I'm starting to think it was the piranha that was turning things around for me. It's expensive as fuck but think I'm going to grab a bottle tomorrow to be safe.

Really seriously considering changing my set up though. Can't be buying piranha and etc. every week. Way too fuckin expensive. Makes a guy kind of harbor bad feelings towards the company(AN).
Keep fighting the good fight bud, you'll get it beat.

if you don't want to switch to sterile just yet, up your dose to a tsp (5mL) per gallon of the SAG and see what happens.
Oh shit. Just realized you said 5ml per gallon(I was still think per 10 gallon). Should I go jack it up to that level? Shit sounds high but my current levels are clearly not cutting it.

I'll let rkymtn answer you, but I think he meant 5ml per 10 gal.

definitely grabbing some piranha this morning. Roots and plants look like shit, compared to where they were at 24hrs ago. What a disappointment.

no, not at all I don't think. Bunch of different stuff.
That's what I though, I was just curious. If the bacteria isn't cutting, you may want to think about something sterile before it's too late. Not trying to add to your stress, just trying to help.

I appreciate it, thx bud. Not adding to my stress at all.

Think I'm going to grab the piranha for now since it appeared to be working so well and try to work on a new set up that provides more oxygen to my roots. Would be nice if I could get back to the point of not having to add bennies or go sterile.

piranha is only endo/ecto fungi, I'm fairly sure there's 0 bacteria in it.
ie. it won't do sht to root rot.

SAG/hydroguard should stomp it tho, add sag/hydroguard to the res every 3 days. cuzz w/o carbs to eat the bennies fuk off.

I'm just going to keep using both in the mean time just to be safe(and since i have the sag anyway).

I really wanted it to be the sag that was giving me the good results but seeing is believing. I think once everything looks a 100% healthy I'll try going with just the sag again to see what happens. I really do want it to work for me, so I'm not going to completely give up on it until I know for sure.

yeah, i meant 5 per 10. oops

so, progress report?
Progress report is: my roots have gotten worse and worse over the last 48hrs since changing my res with no piranha. I just added some piranha back in about an hour ago so we'll see what happens over next couple days. I'll report back on the progress.

I also switched up one of my res/veg set ups to more of an aeroponic deal instead of dwc. Hoping that by providing more air to the roots will help things. My rot issues seem to happen once the roots get long enough to submerge in the water. Should be interesting either way at least.

2 thoughts: not enough dissolved oxygen, too warm res water. have you measure water temps? do you think you have enough bubbles going on?
Last I checked my water temps were around 68f. I hate using air pumps/stones so I use the waterfall method.

I do think more oxygen couldn't hurt though. That's why I've changed one of my things to aeroponics. Think I'll change the rest of them soon.

I think the pythium came from fungus gnats. My best guess at least.
