Ok I need to know about hps

I thought about getting one of those portable ac units
This one got a very good review. Has a large compressor and runs exhaust even when the comp. Is off. Mine is in a 5x12 room with a 4x4 grow area. Cools 2 315s and a 4' 6 bulb T5. Definitely overkill but that's better than under. Had to cut a hole in the door to run the exhaust out a living room window. 15539729300224387461986917383427.jpg 15539733374141064309051433639167.jpg

Ok I have been growing for about a year with leds. Haven’t done too bad. Not real good either. The most I’ve ever got of a single plant is 5 oz so, I’m thinking about going to an hps. What kind of hps does it take for veg and what kind of hps does it take for flower? Do they use lots of electric? And do they get really hot? I have a 3x3 veg tent and a 4x4 flower tent. Would one light do in each tent? Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions I know noting about hps but am looking to improve my quality and yields
I took 23 ounces off a single plant only topped once running a thousand watt de mh/hps. It was my first grow with a hps light and it put all my led lights to shame. The only thing is heat and my electric bill went up a noticeable amount but when your pulling a little less then a pound and a half off a plant I really didn’t care. 0DDDB970-21F4-4523-9504-9BC9340A8FF1.jpeg

Not that hard to pull a pound or 2 of wet weed. Tell us the weight after dried and cured. A pound of properly dried bud would not fit in that bowl.

No but it should be at least a Qp and that’s a hell of a lot better than 2.5 ounces of dried buds from an led doing the same amount of work and waiting the same amount of time.

Yes it is. Don't get me wrong I am not an LED fan. Not yet anyways. I do believe they are the future. The possibilities are endless with what can be made using LED.

I totally agree I actually like leds for small closet grows and in my opinion the buds get a lot frostier under led but I’m not sure if frosty equates to potency.

Not as frosted as CMH. For potency they are the way to go right now. IMO and test comparisons.

I might have to check out a cmh and good brands you recommend?
There are a lot of companies that make them. Just don't buy a real cheap one. Also if it comes with a bulb replace it anyways. I use Hortilux, they put out more UV rays. The name of mine is Infinite Spectrum. Stay away from the 630 fixtures. If you need more light buy 2 315's.

Oh and I myself disagree with LED being superior to CMH. For the actual finished product CMH has been proven better than LED. Do a search for comparisons.

My led grows huge buds, I am afraid to switch to chm. But I guess if it’s better I’ll do it. I’m all about getting something better. What’s the difference in electric usage? And what about heat?

It's all about the true watts a 1000 watt ballast uses 1000 watts . a 400 watt uses 400 watts. Most electrics have an 10-15% extra usage. A 1000 watt ballast will use1100-1150 actual watts.

I use 2 600w hps over 8 plants I don't have any problems getting 8-10oz a plant but the heat can be a problem in the summer.
