I used to run cobs one one side of my old 8x4 flower tent and 2 of the 260w kits on the other.

I pulled 2lb dry from the two 260w kits over 4x4 area with 4 plants a few times. Then i had to move house.
Ah Nice, so 1gpw is out the window now days with these new led lights, what would you run in a 2mx2m tent ? I was thinking 4x375 watt kits from that diyleduk site with 2x315 CDM lights as I have a few of those lying around

Well i wouldnt say 1gpw is out the window because you need to be able to grow, fill your space and manage your plants , its not a given to hit higher numbers. But most that are reasonable should be pulling good numbers. Again strains going to play a part and i dont usually run stuff low yeilding.

But yeah man 4 of those kits on their own would light up a 2mx2m tent real good. The cmh would be a massive bonus with the added spectrum difference.

Diyled has great lights and a good range to suit most areas.
I have one myself. In an 80 x 80 tent for late veg early flower. Really even spread of light from strips.

He also sells parts too. I bought some nice heatsinks for a diy build I did with with f strips for a veg light.
Also Alibaba is an option .
The FOTOP 800 led boards.
You can cover an area very easily with these, they're 1ft x 3ft boards.
No heatsink needed up to ~ 200 watts and just an aluminium frame to support them.
Here's info and testing on the FOTOP Boards.

At the moment I have a strawberry mother and a stardawg mother, I can get around 1gpw with 4x600w in a 2mx2m. Have a few heat issues in the warmer days but otherwise it’s ok. It’s just the noise of the fans that’s needed is annoying

I think anyone pulling a gpw with hps is doing pretty fucking.
I know what you mean about noise though man. Im really anal about any sound.
Right now the loudest thing in my small tents is my circulation.
Used to run a very expensive "silent" fan that performed well but was not even close to been quiet.
Luckily i discovered a proper quiet fan. I have a few PC fans to blow over my heatsinks and they are louder than my extraction..
Now i sleep like a baby! :bigjoint:

That’s what I like to hear, even the bloody £500 silent fans I have with acoustic ducting still make a load of noise. I was thinking maybe to buy the £400 light from that diyleduk when he has them in stock, seeing how it all goes together and then buying the parts for the other 7. Do I need any specific tools I.e soldering iron or drills etc ?

Im pretty sure with strip builds you don't need to solder anything. Should just be a case of stripping the wire and poking it into the connector. Getting some connectors like wagos to connect the wires together and connect to driver.

Frame wise again it depends, I drilled and bolted my frame together. So a drill. Wire strippers. Pliers.

Send Diyleduk an email and ask him when he's restocking.

What area are you trying to cover?

Here's 2ft long Samsung F series strips for 20 quid

https://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detail/en/samsung-semiconductor-inc/SI-B8V521560WW/1510-2221-ND/6624005

Here's 2ft long Hinflux samsung strips for 25 quid

https://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detail/en/samsung-semiconductor-inc/SL-B8V4N90LAWW/1510-2452-ND/8536581

The above f strips come in 1ft, 2ft and 4ft lengths
The hinflux 1ft and 2ft lengths.
If I wanted to run 5 of those 2ft Hinflux strips what driver would I need, I spoke to someone who said that 5 of these strips parallel wouldn’t run on any of their meanwell drivers ? I’m getting lost with all this, it’s to cover a 3ft x 3ft area.

hi all, thanks for reading this post

I have zero experience with led lights, I just brought 4x talos 0010. Now I now they may not be the cheapest or the best and at just over 2 grand I’m sure I could of got a better quality light, so here’s the thing, I want to try and build my own and have heard this is the best way to do so. Is their any experienced led light builders who would be happy to share some knowledge and advice. I’m based in the uk, I would be very grateful if anyone could help me out. Feel free to private msg me if you are in the uk or even post the equipment needed on here so all other newbies can see it as well. Thanks
WTF you wanna build light when you already purchased one??
Whats your growing space??
Peep on AFN praises thelos pretty much..

Who's meanwell drivers....?

5 x l09 Hinflux strips will fit on a Meanwell 320h 48A driver. Parallel wiring
On full whack that would get you around 375 watts.
Plenty of light for a 3 x 3, probably overkill.
You Only need 30 - 35 watts per sq ft with these type of leds.
I have 5 x l09s on a Meanwell 240h 48A about 270 watts max
Any MW xxx 48A version driver can be dimmed down to 50%

I think that’s the setup on diyleduk.co.uk when I type in the leds you just said, the 109s it doesn’t show them ? Is this the driver you are talking about
