I don’t usually grow autos but I wanted to try. This is my first experience and I don’t think this is northern lights. Northern lights is supposed to be an Indica. This is what I have, you can be the judge

Probably been had. I bought Northern Lights from MSNL Seedbank and the plant grew to 4 foot tall in a 2 gallon pot and had the thinnest fan leaves I’ve grown personally. Def didn’t get what I ordered but whatever I guess, it was like 32 dollars for 20 reg seeds. They also smelt like diesel so who knows. I have also grown NL from Ilovegrowingmarijuana.com and they are good. Nice bushy plants.
 
There are a lot of people selling things that they call Northern Lights that are just reworked knock offs. But even the original was supposed to have some Thai in it or some other landrace sativa. Plus you know it's been reworked to make it an auto. Could be just happen to be a sativa influenced pheno.

Or maybe they sent you the wrong thing.

Exactly this. NL is a hybrid, even though it says its mostly Indica, its still a hybrid. And you don't have actual NL you have an auto re-mix so who knows what phenotype they used to make it.

I’ve ordered from ILGM.com they always have great genetics
 
I've grown lots of nl, and never had any that look remotely like that.

Do they have that weedy/cedar/piney sweet smell to them?

Doesn't look like the Canuk NL I grew. Then again, I'd be surprised if that was a real NL cut. Was good stuff still though. Here's hopeing you still get good stuff out of that .
