DIY with Quantum Boards

What kind of wattage per sq/ft are you running? I prefer to scrog with lower wattage and under those circumstances spectrum shifts might not have as big of a impact on plant health.
Im using 135w kits in 2x2s. 3 for 12/12, v1,v2 and rspec. I have a 80H on a v1 in my veg tent. The v1 135w kit runs a "preflower" tent at 14 hours. I take one from the veg, put it in the preflower for 2 weeks, until it develops a good canopy, take clones then transfer it either under the v2 or rspec. I run cooling fans on them as well and I think i get a bit more light out of them that way.

What kind of temps and humidity, how close are the lights? 34 watts a sq/ft should not cause any plant health problems and your plants don't look healthy. Have you checked for PH issues?

You can manipulate a plants structure and appearance with changes in spectrum, node spacing, root mass, leaf size. But it should not affect plant health unless it's lacking in some area or it's not getting what it needs to build.

Na. Everythings good. I mix my nutes in a large bucket and use it feed multiple plants. This is like the third plant ive grown under these. The first i started on the rspec about week 5 and it came out real real weird so i started feeding it some random micronutrients and it came out stout as hell for some reason. The last two have been the same viney and multicolored, the last one i moved out of the rspec and back under a v1 to finish it. This is the first one ive gone the whole flower cycle and its getting real weird. I have a bright green healthy v2 in the same environment and feeding schedule with no issues. Trust me theyre all in the same room, same nutes, same clone, totally different results. The leaves look yellow but they arent yellow like that. Theyre like multicolored, orange, yellow, carrot. Theye golden colored. The bleaching is new but the golden color began in like week 2. Im worried that the coloring is going to slow down photosynthesis and I think i should just chop it now. Im just making a wild guess here that this color might have something to do the the 550nm peak of anthocyanin absorption. These are due to be chopped in 2 days sonsome yellowing is expected. However none of the hairs have turned orange. I checked it on microscope andngot a got mostly cloudy with a few ambers mixed in. Idk if it means anything but the purple parts i pulled up on the microscope are amber trichs.
Bleached.

Do you have any way of measuring the intensity at the canopy, I'm curious how many umoles you're getting on the plant that close? I haven't run the rspec but have run the V1,V2 and elites but I'm running them under 30 watts sq/ft and at 16".

I found some nice zipcord on amazon. It was color coded ( don't see that often ) black and blue, 18 gauge. I strung it up a pole and across the top of the light hanger bars then down to the light. I use about a 4: jumper of 18 solid from the wago on the zip, to the molex, just enough to bend up a little at the end of the heatsink. Makes raising and lower the light easy.

I planned on going from solid to stranded like this.
Where, and how, are you securing the wago? And how far from the molex. I guess it varies depending on what fixture ya built with what boards, but I assume you try and use as little 18awg as possible.

Idk, 12 inches atleast, one or two colas are closer but not within 6 inches. My v2s grow within 2 inches sometimes with no problems
Way too close in a small tent with reflective walls , try 20 inches or higher.
You have VPD issues and/or nute issues as well.
I am running 240 watts of addtional of the HLG qb18's red-far red only and plants love it.(1000 ish plus watts of white HLG in with them) Red LED's push out alot more juice per diode as well.

To suggest additional red is doing what you say has not at all been my experience.
I suggest you look into your distance to light first..
I know 12 inches is too close for my 320XL HLG's , add red then you are cooking em that close.
VPD is far too under rated for the normal add calmag response to most leaf damage issues.

Yeah if your having any leaf issues, (yellowing etc) move the light 20-30" from canopy and work your way back down as plants start doing better..... I had to up my Mg a ton to get rid of purple stems... around 2-2.5g epsom per gallon, but thats with reverse osmosis...

I just started using the Rspec's and can tell you they are powerful. I have to keep mine around 24" so I don't get bleaching. A couple plants can handle more, but I used a lux meter app to get an idea of the intensity that each plant is getting and some can handle 55000 and one is only able to handle around 40000-45000 so far. I watch the plants mainly to see how they are reacting to the light, but the app is pretty cool to get an idea. The one that can only handle 45000 is right under the 135 Rspec, but it is younger. I have the same plant that's older handling 55000 under the 260 Rspec. I was kinda surprised how powerful these things are, but am only at 15 days flower, so I don't know how they will finish yet.

The new QB18 V2 is everything i ever wanted for supplemental spectrum

4 Blue (B) 470nm
4 Red (R) 630nm
6 Deep Red (DR) 660nm
4 Far Red (FR) 730nm

love the blue nm choice..... really gonna be filling a void in white led spectrum

Those not look nice. What heat sink and driver are you using with them? It looks like the light is 580mm, but the heat sink is 1100mm. Is that correct?

dont have any yet as i just found out about em... been holding off on supplemental tell i found something that was a everything in 1 package.... but i do plan on mounting them in the middle of HLG 550 V2s whenever i make my next light order.... yeah i noticed that slate 7 xl was a bit bigger..... i think the qb18 v1 boards were longer so maybe they dont have proper sized heatsink for v2 yet??.....

I squeezed in an HLG550 v1 into my new 4 x 4 tent last night...... along side a Scope 240 - diyleduk. Plants are about a week into 12 on 12 off.
This is my late veg, early flower tent, up to 4 weeks flowering then under the Alibaba cheapo leds in hut to finish off. Lol
I originally used an 80cm x 80cm tent but it was falling apart so the £54 4 x 4 tent was a bargain lol
I originally had the Scope light running at max, 270 watts with 4 x cobs for extra 100 watts.

Im running both lights at 200 watts each. 400 watts in the 4 x 4. Uber efficient.
50 watts per qb and 40 watts per hinflux strip.
Par meter is out on loan at the moment so I used an android app light meter for a ballpark figure of light intensity. Around 50,000 lux at 14 inches.
I guesstimate round 800 - 900 umols/ ....
5 plants in total, 3 x Paradise Seeds Sensi Star original clones and 1 x RQS Royal Gorrilla clone in ~ 25 litre pots and a Bruce Banner reg seed in a 10 ltr pot for sexing.
I'm using a new soil recipe as my usual outlet, a garden nursery, literally 100 yards from me has closed down but so far so good with new mix.
Nice

The app is called Keuwlsoft. I moved the light meter all over the canopy for 98 seconds to get an average reading.
Anyway i hope you all enjoy.

Will you do a check on the readings when you get your light meter back and let us know how close the readings compare with the Keuwlsoft old bean?

Yes, i will. Excellent idea.
So easy with the par meter.
The 550 is 3500K lm561c the strips 3000k lm301b, both 80 CRI
I converted the lux with the online calculator
https://www.waveformlighting.com/horticulture/convert-lux-to-ppfd-online-calculator

Sorta took an avg between Low CRI 3500k led and High CRI 3000K Led
What the difference is between the two is vague. Low 70/80 ? High anything above 80 -98 cri? But it's a handy wee tool.
That's why it's ballpark :bigjoint:
