If it is true that the president used the threat of withholding congressionally authorized funds to—in the Post’s words—”extort” a foreign leader into investigating a domestic political opponent and his family, that would be a very big deal indeed. That allegation, if true, would unambiguously constitute an impeachable offense, indeed an offense that positively demands impeachment from any Congress that wishes to be taken seriously. It would be impeachable for at least three separate reasons: first, because it would involve the extortion of a foreign leader for personal and political gain; second, because it would involve the solicitation of a foreign government’s involvement in a U.S. election; and third, because it would involve the solicitation of a foreign government’s investigation of a political opponent in a fashion that grossly violates the civil liberties of a U.S. person, namely Biden’s son.

Then droned on for a few hours today to soak up as much news coverage as he could away from all of it. The crazy was just oozing out of him.

I could see Mitch going for it to try to get a sane candidate for president to run, god how times have changed, the evangelical stuff still gets me, but Romney could flank Biden for the middle.

Trump is guilty of fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, insurance fraud, obstruction of justice, conspiracy against the United States, and sexual assault. He has attacked our allies and praised our enemies. Seven of his aides have been convicted of felonies. He has praised Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Roy Moore. Trump is a criminal president.

Even the WSJ and National Review seem to realize what a problem it is for the President to urge the leader of a foreign nation to work with his personal attorney on an investigation of his own domestic political rivals.

At least he didn't ask for Dijon mustard on his hamberders. That would have been serious.

File this one in the folder file drawer labeled "nothingburgers".
It is insane how much Trump is able to sucker the news of the day to forgetting about a story the next day. But this really looks to be what hangs Trump in the end. Him ordering his Acting DNI to withhold the whistle blower complaint for longer than legally being allowed to is what triggers this entire thing.

Trump is trying to use the fact that the whistle blower went to Schiff's department of justice employees to find out how to legally file his complaint as shade.

My guess is that I was right that Trump was trying to troll the Democrats, But screwed himself by waited too long with it, and triggering a full on impeachment inquiry about the complaint.

Trump was trying to burn the whistleblower because after reading the Mueller report notes:

Trump knew who he had to worry about after the Meuller report was released and he knew who he needed to burn. He just screwed it all up.

439 days, 7 hours, 2 minutes, 20 seconds until Trump will be compelled to leave the White House.
