I vote for a Convention of States. D's and R's are two cheeks on the same ass. Party politics is cancer in said ass. Burn it down and start the whole thing over. We ruined it just like George Washington said we would.

I am more of a pessimist that starting all over would change anything. The one thing that you can't take out of government is people, and people will eventually make bad decisions and vote in idiots. Regardless of how local they are. And I disagree about D and R, Democrats have been forced by the Republicans to make decisions for everyone in the country. It is a messy business because everything that is not the Republican's Wealthy White Heterosexual Male Agenda is deemed socialism or some religious reason is used to sell against it. Only in the last 50 years has anyone but wealthy white men been in any kind of power here in America.

It is on Republicans to open up to a wider agenda than what they have been working with since the 1980's.

Someone here explained it really well.

If you take away parties, your one vote really is not that big of a deal, so it will just inevitably come down to who has the most money/resources to push their message out to the people who would be voting. At least with the Democratic party, you are supported by half (ish) of the country and are able to be on the same stage as the Republican Wealthy White Male. If you take away the party system, it would just be the uber rich who pick who runs for office.

...which is one of the reasons I said burn it all down. We have gotten so far away from the intent and direction of the Founding Fathers that the Republic is already lost. We became an Imperialist regime a long time ago, and our citizens have increasingly become cattle serving no purpose but generating revenue to pay for wars. Party politics is nothing but a friendly contest between elitists to see which side can get the cattle moving one way or another. If you think any party cares about the people, you are sorely deluded.
