Aussie Growers Thread

It'll be interesting to see how the next 1-2 years plays out with potentially legal licensed grower opportunities.

I've seen a heap of ads on seek for master growers... that would be a sweet job for any qualified horticulturalists out there interested in cannabis.

If the cost to go legal was 100k+ like it is in many US states, would you do it??
Can already see with the legal medical grows how it is going to go. Consolidated with just a few multi nationals controlling it all. No doubt a bunch of greased palms and ex politicians on the boards of these companies too.

The best thing for black market growers is that this country loves rules and regulations so much that when it finally does go legal the licenses, security and taxes will be so much that there will still be a market for good top shelf black market bud.

She's dry and holy hell she is loud.

Just over 9 ounces.

All she has to do is pass the stoner test. I'm not a smoker so I can't judge potency. Need to get some over to the Mrs place

By multi national’s you mean tobacco and opiate companies because they need a leg up. The Greens will do all the work pushing it and raising the money for advertising. Then they will get it hijacked by the greasy palmed bastards. Not that I like the Greens they can eat a dick but it’s just how this shit show will role

I’m just going to keep growing my own supply The rest is just white noise makes for good convo though. Dropping 100k is massive coin to much for me and I can’t see them helping out the little guys either. In which I mean 5 blokes chipping in 20k each to get a license. If that was the scenario.

No one's putting a legal grow together for anything like 100k. Security measures alone would be near 100k, add to that licensing, property, grow infrastructure, staff, processing space and equipment, etc and you'd want at least 10 million in funding behind you and hope you can turn a profit straight out of the gates or you'd be broke in 6 months

I get what your saying. I was answering the hypothetical question “if the cost to go legal was 100k would you do it” like small growers in the states do

Yeah big ag, big tobacco, big pharma and even the booze companies will be all over it. Like in Canada I think there are like 7 licensed producers or something ridiculous.

At least one of the growers on this thread has been approached to grow in legal medical in Aus. He has no qualifications in the field.

An acquaintance down here has been going through the red tape over the last couple years to do a legal medical. Its cost him allot of $ and time so far. Last I spoke with him he had finally gotten the seeds (took 12 months) but i dont know if he is growing as yet.

If the cost was 100k then yea id be tempted but the costs to get started here at the moment seems to be a hell of allot more with the added hurdle of having to have a Pharmacy contract in place before u are granted a licence. (as i understand it). But with what they are calling legal in the states the price per has dropped a huge amount and when some good quality growers who market their product well are getting $500- $700 per ozzie on mainland Australia they would loose a huge income stream. Add to that the black market guys in the states seem to have a better product going from what people are saying on RIU.

Im a fan of full decriminalization but not a fan of what is deemed "legal with restrictions and licensing costs".
