You'd think someone with 37% approval would easily lose against whomever they're running against, but with the country split down the middle and with Trump having 90% approval from his half, you should probably wake the fuck up and look outside and see who the president is. Depending on which poll you look at, the numbers fluctuate around the same level of 40% disapproval. This poll has Trump approval ratings at 41% Approve; 54% Disapprove; 5% not sure. In the general election, it doesn't matter that 90% of Republicans approve of Trump when only 41% overall do.

What? Are you saying we should cave on important issues that are important to Democrats to try to win over Republicans? That's what Bernie and his followers say we should do on women's rights and civil rights for Hispanic people. They are wrong about that. Republicans aren't going to vote for a Democrat. The swing vote comes from Independents, not Republicans.

Probably the most important figure from the approve/disapprove polls has Independents giving Trump only a 28% approval rating. They are the swing vote and the idea of nationalizing healthcare just might make the difference for them in the election. This is one reason why I'm supporting Warren who firmly states her support for universal healthcare coverage, has a plan for how to pay for it but advocates a phased approach that begins with "Medicare if you want it". Before this I didn't know anything about Schiff, I have not seen him do anything outside of the norm so far. I think it is more that people are going to get flooded with negative propaganda about them sent to them in a way that will be designed to affect them on a very personal level.

Hillary didn't do enough to hold people accountable for the bogus loans banks were giving out before the 2008 bubble popped, yet she made good money giving speeches to various financial institutions afterwards, I guess....because of her extensive banking background and high level education in economics?

Couldn't be because she was one of the most powerful and experienced women in government for a decade, former 1st lady and positioned at the time to have a good shot at being the first woman president.

I can't believe that as Secretary of State she would have had much to do with holding the banks accountable (which it was not the banks that started the bubble, there is a difference between the financial institutions that caused the 2008 crash and banks).

Still, I think she'd make a fine president and her husband was the only person in the last half-century to even touch debt, so I'd be hopeful that it's something she'd continue, because I believe debt is going to make its way to the front of the line at some point and republicans have the absolute *worst* history of anything to do with money, even though they tout themselves as the money experts. Turns out they're experts at stealing from us.

Extremely smart and has (besides Biden) the most sensible approach to healthcare, which will or could prove to be the Achilles heal of Warren and Sanders and the Democratic party.

And I kind of agree about the camps, but when a camp topic aligns with what you think is right, you can't abandon your belief just because it aligns. Likewise, I'm not going to start hating bratwurst just because Hitler liked it. If we did that kind of thing, there'd literally be nothing left for us anywhere. I go with what I think is right as a primary and don't care so much about the rest, though I admit that getting Trump out of office is a top priority, so I may be willing to sacrifice my personal integrity and vote for someone like Biden just to get that done.
