which mars unit was it that caught n fire
One? I’ve seen 2 different ones do it with my own eyes (one of their older cob models and one of their blurple epistar models). I’ve also seen it happen enough through various forum posts etc.

Mars have a reputation among most forums at being good at one thing, having a bbq, because their lights put out enough heat to cook most food and often combust to give your steak that nice char on the outside

Found a 2 panel one on fleabay
Just be careful with those fleabay boards. They’re almost guaranteed to be inferior diodes and bins and often the traces are weaker and more likely to burn out at higher currents.

You really get what you pay for with leds. Except for bridglux stips imo, they give you more than you paid for, my gen 2’s are being run at their “max” rated current according to bridglux and I definitely could run them harder with there current heatsinks as they aren’t even warm to touch.

240 watts, QB288 V2 LM301B, only $240 has samsung diodes and meanwell driver =) cheering im buying it soon
“Samsung diodes” I doubt they’d be 301b’s if they are even Samsung diodes. But hey there’s no real way to test them without buying some hella expensive gear or sending them away.

Hes got 100% positive feedback and sold 1388 lights, he buys bulk and passes savings to customers

He’s buying bulk out of china. He probably doesn’t have the equipment to test the diodes, probably at most powers the boards up to check they work etc. he’d have no way to tell if the diodes where swapped out for cheaper ones during manufacturing or if the copper traces are large enough to properly handle the current of the panel for a sustained amount of time.

Will they work? Probably yeah? Are you actually getting what is advertised? Probably not.

There’s a reason why hlg invested in printing their own boards and laying the Samsung diodes themselves. It means they get what they actually pay for when it come to diode quality and binning as well beefy traces that don’t burn out

HLG are the only company getting top bin from Samsung from what I understand. They are even allowed to use Samsung branding. (unlike some that use the branding anyway..)

There’d be others including Samsung using top bins but none have gone through the channels to use the Samsung branding that hlg has.

You are probably right but i think ive heard Steven say that he gets all the top bin and Samsung still cannot supply him enough.

With how competitive companies are getting it doesn’t surprise me there’s a supply shortfall. I would say a good portion of the top bin diodes would be going to hlg and Samsung themselves. No way would Samsung use second rate diodes when they’re the manufacturer.

well lets all ask Santa for a new Quantum Board

and have a Led battle for da best buds pic this next year ho ho ho
I’m getting a highlight panel for Christmas to compare to a cutter board. The highlight panel is bigger so spreads the light better, has more diodes and can be run at higher wattages than the hlg/cutter boards.
