Flower i tried to keep em going but looked shit couple died was like fuck this. Took like 2 days of cleaning as i done everything a few times bug bombed room also.
Spent a fair few hours cleaning the shit off the hydroton to like new balls jist getting rid of dust.
Each tray takes 2. 50 litre bags. Bought 6 bags for 200.
What did you use for cleaning & surely not bleach for disinfecting?!?!?!?

If it happens again (or even to clean your system at the end of each run), take a tip from a homebrewer - Sodium Percarbonate is the shit you want. 10g-30g/L in hot tap water & use your pump (as long as it can handle the higher temperatures) to recirculate through your system for 20-30 minutes. If not, just run it cooler & allow an overnight soak (ie submerge everything). Then flush/rinse the entire system a few times with hot water (as hot as your pump & system will handle). No physical cleaning required.

Perc. is the active ingredient in Napisan etc., but Napisan is only 30% Perc. (the rest is just fillers). It will get rid of organic matter & also disinfect your system. It breaks-down in solution into Hydrogen Peroxide & Sodium Carbonate & is quite harmless to the environment when discarded.

I buy it by the 25Kg sack & it lasts for ages as long as you store it in an airtight container. You can get it from homebrewing stores by the Kg for a very reasonable price.

its awsome stuff. I bought some on ebay recently for my cloner as that can get a bit slimy after a week.

Do you change it out or do you run it with clones in?
i just take the top off, which contains the clones, sit it on an open esky. Then scrub the main unit and and the pump. rough rinse and back together, so would be some residue but i haven't just dumped some in their, it probably wouldn't hurt them though. Its also good for stains.

Excellent! Just be prepared that it'll "fizz" a bit if you use it hot, that can cause your pump to cavitate until it settles-down. Don't worry, that's normal.

I use the stuff to clean my brewery, it goes in the washing machine, we use it instead of commercial dishwasher powder, soaking baked-on crap off oven dishes & it even makes an excellent salad dressing...
