mine are all in peat based (Canna Terra). Rubys in the ground plants seem to be loving the 40s. Think its just about giving them enough liquid to drink and perhaps a little less nutrients whilst they drink so much. Wonder if its the O2 in the root zone thats helping them?
Mine have come from 130w of CFL and 630w of CMH so the suns a bit of a shock to them.
Your totally right on the nute/ppm strength side of things Luke,

Do you find when it cools down that you don’t water very often with the Pete base?
I imagine it Could be affecting your yield if so Luke?
For example if you water more regularly (to a degree) in coco the plants will grow better/faster.
The same reason people add perlite to their soil mix, to help the soil dry out faster, give more oxygen to the root zone. Regular feedings will also get better growth as long as the o2 is available at the root zone.
Just a thought anyway Luke,
I grow primarily in hydro indoors so maybe it’s my hydro mentality taking over haha.

I always wondered how the plants would grow if you added a layer of soil, then a layer of straight perlite then a layer of soil etc. hence enabling more oxygen to the root zone and more regular feedings which no doubt would give better growth.

Haha yea I’ve done the same, I now harden them off for a while if moving outside. I imagine your vegging 18/6? About 5 years ago I was vegging 24/0 and took them outside in summer and they flowered from the sudden drop of light hours. Becomes too much work when you also have to gradually decrease light hours to match outdoor light hours I think haha.

how do you find the cmh Luke? Would they be the equivalent to a 600w mh/hps? Am looking at buying a few but the low power draw sounds too good to be true!?

So they either moved the bud before they got done. Or the cops took it and were like they moved it before we got em
Crooked cops..bastards!!.

But they also got 'Investigators seized about 1,206 cannabis plants, with an estimated potential street value of more than $3.7 million '

good info there saffasteve! I get smashed with the caterpillars where I am, what single spray would you recommend to battle them? I currently am alternating between neem oil and perythrium. Cheers man!
Dipel (B.T) is what I normally, but it doesn't go so well if you get any rain, that's when I go to Spinotram or Spinosad.
All 3 are biological so safe to spray right up untill harvest. They depend on the cats to ingest them to work properly so regular applications and total coverage is essential

yes of cause.
yes of cause.
yep, i add perlite to soil and Canna terra and Vermiculite. Papa grows a mean Perlite Coco Hempy.

Often do that up potting. Most of it comes to the surface anyway. But u do get a cool line when u pull the rootball. Not sure if it makes a difference though. Could well do.
18/6 in the veg and propagation and 12/12 in the 4 x 4. Have done 24hr and i think the plants grow just as well on 18/6 and IMO they take longer to transition to flower than a 18/6 plant

Love it over the 600wHPS. Miles better in every way. Would still love a 550 for the next couple months though. 30.8c in the tent tonight, just dimmed the ballast down and hopefully that will get it back to 27 ish. Lower draw with LED, i need the extra heat for the majority of the year so id have to run a heater with them.so CMH suites me well. Great lights.

Thanks staffasteve!
I’ll have a look now and order some. Always a good thing, being safe enough to spray right up till harvest!

Indoors I spray neem and Dr Bronners every 5-7 days from clones/seedlings through to week 2 of flower as a preventive, every 3 days if I think I've actually got bugs. Gnatrol for Fungus Gnats every 2 weeks and try to maintain a clean space. Also ALWAYS quarantine and dip any clones from other growers.
Outdoors I use Eco oil and Dr Bronners every 4-5 days as Neem knocks around all the beneficial insects too much and I add either B.T, Spinosad or Spinotram after flowering to control caterpillars.
Q, if your spraying with neem so often do u make your own and/or dilute? Thats if u can...

I’ve heard of and added perlite to soil when I grew in soil once upon a time haha. But was just thinking that there will possibly be layers of perlite throughout the root zone that will provide oxygen and easily available nutrient water for a while after feeding and the layers of soil will prevent total drying of the perlite/roots and effectively may make less chance of overwatering/slow growth!?

Perlite coco hempy sounds interesting Luke. Will check it out 8-)

I can have up to 2 600 watters in veg room and 5 in flower room at a time. Nearly halving that power draw is only a good thing for security and my pocket haha. I was going to change to an led setup but there’s so much misleading information from the suppliers and led supporters, that I think I’ll just switch to CMH’s. I pulled nearly 18ozs indoors from a single chemdawg about 4 months ago using a 600w hps. Would be a dream for me to do that while only drawing 325 watts!

Yea, the heat can be a bitch! I got my hands on a portable split system about 2 years ago. I dose co2 so it’s a must have in a sealed or semi sealed room! do you dose co2 Luke? If you do then your temps are good! If not, can you inline cool the cmh’s (cool tube set up) running Humidity a little on the higher side if not in late flower will help a little. Also dosing a little potassium silicate and b52 can help if temps aren’t too extreme!?

I mix my own neem Luke, what was your thinking? Neem residue builds up? Never even thought of that!
EDIT: sorry Luke I rushed reading the prior posts, thought that question was for me haha.
