Yep thats what its used for, Veggie gardeners use it to.I’ve heard of and added perlite to soil when I grew in soil once upon a time haha. But was just thinking that there will possibly be layers of perlite throughout the root zone that will provide oxygen and easily available nutrient water for a while after feeding and the layers of soil will prevent total drying of the perlite/roots and effectively may make less chance of overwatering/slow growth!?

I can have up to 2 600 watters in veg room and 5 in flower room at a time. Nearly halving that power draw is only a good thing for security and my pocket haha. I was going to change to an led setup but there’s so much misleading information from the suppliers and led supporters, that I think I’ll just switch to CMH’s. I pulled nearly 18ozs indoors from a single chemdawg about 4 months ago using a 600w hps. Would be a dream for me to do that while only drawing 325 watts!
Yea, the heat can be a bitch! I got my hands on a portable split system about 2 years ago. I dose co2 so it’s a must have in a sealed or semi sealed room! do you dose co2 Luke? If you do then your temps are good! If not, can you inline cool the cmh’s (cool tube set up) running Humidity a little on the higher side if not in late flower will help a little. Also dosing a little potassium silicate and b52 can help if temps aren’t too extreme!?

I have coco mixed into my biggest plants soilHey Luke, I’ve got some small plants going outdoors roughly a foot high atm. And in pure coco and have 1 in soil for a rough comparison.
we’ve just had 3, 43 degree days! And one thing I’ve figured out is plants get less heat stressed when in coco as opposed to soil!
The one in soil started drooping towards the end of the day yesterday and has already started today, whereas the plants in coco are praising the sun! I imagine Itl be because the roots have to really search in soil as opposed to coco....?
Could be a thought to any soil growers out there to mix in some coco into their soil to help get them through summer if their not already?

Nice beernutz! I’ve heard of people using coco as a bottom layer for their soil mix to help with drainage..... not sure how beneficial this would be but sounds interesting.....
Drinking everyday is good beernutz! When I’m doing a coco run I water a minimum of every 24 hours, any further apart with my waterings and they don’t seem to grow as vigorously. I’ve grown in dwc for roughly the last 5 years and have been growing in coco for a while now. One thing I noticed when growing in coco is if I water/feed it with a soil growing mentality (water it, let it mostly dry out and water it again) then They grow slower like in soil. If I water/feed 2 to 3 times a day then growth explodes like in dwc!

Yea man, it’s like when I dose co2, if I get the temp nice and hot, with some intense lighting. They go into overdrive! You can provide them with all the water/nutrients in the world, the strongest best lighting, plenty of co2 but with out that warmth they won’t drink as much and in turn won’t be able to use all that co2 to be able to process that powerful lighting (in this case the sun) good temps and humidity are crucial for a healthy vigorous plant imo.

I had the cmh315 and qb288 side by side and they preformed well together
