I'm going to using QB's. Does anyone here supplement veg with fluorescent lights?

I'm going to be purchasing HLG 550 v2 r-specs and I know they dip into the deep red spectrum for flowering but they don't seem to have a whole lotta blue. Do you think it would be overkill to get a cpl fluorescent bulbs for the veg stage?
If you think this it is beneficial, do you have any suggestions for supplemental blue lights? Ya know the kind that produce the 4500-5000 Kelvin needed to tighten up nodal spacing?

these can all be options too. I would pick something you can use by itself, then have in supplement with the 550 when it can use all the light

The best IMO is two light fixtures of blue on either side of ur red one in flower. And then just the blues for early veg.
Either two strips of qb 11's or 2 fixtures with qb 120 4k's, or just a B-spec . The B spec looks nice :)

a CMH with a Phillips 4200k bulb will DEF tighten up internodal spacing some. But the Rspec 3500k does a good job without it. Never used flourescents so can't comment on those. At any rate the difference is minimal, save u money.

I would still install it on a 1/8 thick peice of aluminum, because of how cheap it is. Plus it would make hanging it easier~ but yes you are correct. anything above 60w requires a heat sync.
"May require an Aluminum plate or heatsink if running 60+ watts. Heatsink requirements depends on application and power. "

I veg with straight 3000k QBs, and it works great. That said, my new clones and seedlings are always started under a 6500k 65w CFL.

Guru???... Complete balderdash!!!

But to fling my opinion into the formula, one can supplement any soft spot in canopy light level, with whatever you have on hand! Granted you can keep conditions in check.
There's been times where I've had dome-less screw in dollar store bulbs, running around the edges of several hundred $ builds!!!

Photon free for all, in my zones.

I personally feel my plants veg better under my 2 4ft 8 bulb T5s with 5000K bulbs than my expensive 3500k + 660nm led setup.
Its why I have 2 separate setups.
This is what I'm wondering about. I have a 8 bulb t5, 400w MH conversion, and 1000w HPS. When summer comes, the HID's have to go away. And I was looking at QB's, COB's, or even some Blurples to keep some clones alive thru the summer of my best strain. I got a couple of clones and they wanted to try to flower under the 18 hours of t5 light. When they went under the 400W, they straightened up. I'm thinking 2-3 of the t5 fixtures. Cheap and cool running.
