Prop that thing above your grow room door. Someone tries to sneak in and.....boom. Instant ADT systemWhen I bought my light I was an idiot and bought the 600 watt dimmable when I should have gotten the 1000 dimmable. This time of year I can easily run a 1000 watt HPS in a 4 x 4 tent without heat issues. I have a 1000 watt ballast but it's an oldtimer magnetic and it hums too loud. Might just order a ballast today. $95 and I still have a couple 1000 watt Hortilux bulbs
This was top of the line back when I bought it new. It's one heavy ballast. I pulled my shoulder getting it out to take a picture.
Awesome everyone says hortilux are they actually that much better ?When I bought my light I was an idiot and bought the 600 watt dimmable when I should have gotten the 1000 dimmable. They might be better on charts and in the end they might give you a slightly better yield but I just buy the VivoSun $16.99 lights. The hortilux might be a little better but not worth an extra $40. The hortilux have more of the blue spectrum than the VivoSun bulbs but that's about it.Awesome everyone says hortilux are they actually that much better ?
No, it doesn't ever end for some of us. I grew outdoors for ~20 years, then started growing indoors about six years ago. I started with a single 2x4x5' tent with a 240W LED. Now I have that same tent with a 400W lamp for veg and mothers, two 4x4x7' tents (1000W & 600W HPS) for flower, a 2x3x3' tent with a 240W LED for my cloner, a 2x4x7' cabinet for plants that are about to drop pollen (male and forced female plants), a bathroom where my 20 gallon nutrient mix tanks are filled and stored, and a large preparation room where I fill pots, transplant, cut and plant clones etc which also contains several full-wall length and height shelves for storing extra kit, a variety of electrical, hydro and other paraphernalia. Essentially, my entire basement is dedicated to growing cannabis.Well thanks everyone just ordered a whole kit but fml I could be totally set up for 4x8 now bahahaha does it ever end

That's awesome I built an automated micro brewery to brew up to 15 gallons all from grain then it became legal to grow here so yeah if I pick up another hobby my wife will shoot me bahahahaNo, it doesn't ever end for some of us. Then I've got in my home office a complete electronics lab where I prototype, test and build my various growing automation electronic systems. Although my lab isn't solely dedicated to growing (I do home automation, security systems, water purification systems etc), much of it is, including my prototype multi-5-gallon bucket fill and mix system. I have hundreds of dollars worth of electronically operated valves, flow meters, shutoff solenoids and sensors all used for my automation systems.
I'm currently finishing up the design and have started purchasing the parts for a couple of DIY RDWC systems. One for a veg cycle, the other for flower (so I can keep a perpetual). I have decided on four buckets per system. Another room in my basement will be divided, and each half used for each RDWC. This will operate pretty much as a test, so I will not be shutting down my current Sunshine Mix perpetual operation.
I only use cannabis once per day, just as I lay down at night before I go to sleep. Two or three hits on the vape to calm my restless leg syndrome. I do not use it recreationally but a couple times per year. My wife however, does use cannabis pretty well all day, every day, so she dare not bitch at me regarding my preferred way to do thingsThat's awesome I built an automated micro brewery to brew up to 15 gallons all from grain then it became legal to grow here so yeah if I pick up another hobby my wife will shoot me bahahaha
I'm the same as you once the kids go to bed have a couple hoots shower and bed I really love how theraputic the whole process is and my wife is always down there trimming with meI only use cannabis once per day, just as I lay down at night before I go to sleep. In all honesty, my wife is an awesome partner, especially when it comes time to trim.
They hum when the plates on transformer are loose and vibrate. Some have holes running down the full transformer so small redi-rods can be put in with nuts on the ends to tighten them up or run a bead of epoxy down each corner so they can't vibrate. I have an old 1000W MH but I think the coil has actually gone on it. Got a new capacitor for it but the output voltage at the bulb end is only half what it should be so pretty sure it's the coil that's shot. I have a 1000W MH/HPS that worked fine with a new capacitor so can use that when needed. Recently got 3 sets of 600W digital ballasts with Hortilux SHPS bulbs and open reflectors for $60 each so probably won't need the 1000W any more.I have a 1000 watt ballast but it's an oldtimer magnetic and it hums too loud.
