I am setting up a grow tent and i will have lights but that's it. I know a lot of people on here have things like carbon filters and humidifiers and ventilation systems. I also know a lot of old school growers that grow amazing weed without all the fancy equipment. My father in law just has his plant in the corner under a light and its flourishing. I just want to know the best techniques to grow with just a light and a tent.

What light, and what size tent? What temperature and humidity do you have in the room the tent will be in.

What kind of light does your father in law use? Is the plant in a basement getting an adequate dark period in flower?

Are you familiar with vegetative and bloom phases, and what the difference is?

I would really consider adding an exhaust fan to the list too, especially in a tent.

I am going to be using 2 led e26 full spectrum lights. Temperature should sit between 70-75F and i do not have a way to measure humidity. I am going to be building a 2x2x4 tent out of pvc and lined with panda film. (Thats where i run out of money for equipment)

I dont know what kind of light he is using and his plant is sitting in his bedroom (not in flower yet)

I do know about the different life stages and i have 1 plant that i believe just entered its veg phase and 3 seedlings growing in a upside down laundry basket with a light on it.

Note that those lights only draw 30 Watts. So you'd only have 60W with two of them for 4 square feet, or 15W per square foot. That's not nearly enough for a decent harvest. You'll want to do some further research.

You'll need a hygrometer to measure humidity. That's critical, especially in a confined tent. You'll also have to guard against high temperatures as summer is just around the corner. It's best to have temperature under 82F, 78F is ideal.

You're also going to need to exchange air in the tent, which will require some form of exhaust and intake. Tents typically have passive intakes near the floor, and the grower uses an inline exhaust fan for removing the hot air from the top of the tent. A carbon filter is pretty much a necessity when flowering indoors.

Here's a great site to do some research on: https://growweedeasy.com

If I only had $150, , I'd get a HGL 240w + QBs and just grow 2 or 3 autos in an open room.
If I had less than that, and it was summer, I'd just grow an auto on the windowsill.

Tents cause temperature problems, humidity problems, and mould problems unless you have enough money to spend on all the peripherals.

I have the ability and gear to use 4 of those i just didnt know exactly how much light they would need. I dont want to burn them
Look at it this way... I put brand new seedlings and clones directly under a 400W High Intensity Discharge lamp, so you have no worries there. However, the more light you add, the more heat will be generated which will cause the humidity will drop.

You should have a good read through that site I linked to above. It has a lot of very good information.

What will you be using for nutrients? What about grow medium?
I am using fox farm soil(where a good chunk of my money for this went) and i have been using tap water that i let sit for a few days to let the chlorine dissipate and no other nutrients

If I got 2 of these, one for intake and one for out, would that be good enough?
Way overpriced.
I use 12cm case fans a lot, they normally cost $1 each ........ and you want to spend $15 on one? Why?
Get a $2 12v 2A charger and you can run 6 of those fans (they draw 0.25A each)
For someone on a limited budget your purchase choices make little sense.

You need a lot of ventilation. I use a bathroom fan for an intake then a 6 inch fan running through the lights. For leds I make my own"cool tube" type system, venting the led fans out of the tent.

From what I've read so far, funds aren't the issue here, you lack knowledge of growing. Buy a basic book or even read the basics online, then save up for what you want, I'm even wondering what your father in law is going to do when it comes to needing a dark period for his plant seeing as it is in his bedroom. IF YOU KNOW A LOT OF OLDSCHOOL GROWERS WHY ARE YOU ASKING ON HERE....

I haven't even seen anything like that. Where can I find fans for $1 each?
