24/7 LED Veg anyone?

Plants use that time to convert energy captured during the light period to make carbohydrates. Most areas cannabis included evolved with a dark period. If 24 hours is good then maybe those who grow like that should try operating like that themselves and see how well they do, it's kind of funny.

I hear you. From my own experiences they seem to do better with sleep.

But others are saying they are growing just fine. Why do mine not grow well under 24/7? Thats my question.....Im trying to figure that out. I think I have figured it out, add more food, but I need time to test that out.

Why is 24/0 so important to you? Broke your timer?

Cannabis is a high dli c3 plant, it can take it generally speaking under optimal

you can't kill them all in one grow. the eggs hatch about 3 to 5 days and then you got a whole new batch. you need 2 applications of death to get rid of them.
And if any of them were missed there is a good chance they will now be immune to whatever you were spraying.

I ran 24 hr for approximately one week I switched back to 18-6 last night to see if my plants have in fact possibly stalled out. Never meant to start an argument.
Let's see where this goes I will post in a week.

Thank you!!!!!

But one week not enough 24/7.

When my plants are healthy and I put them from 20/4 - > 24/7 it takes about two full weeks for them to start looking pale...

While a cannabis plant "can" grow with full light all the time, you'll see better results with at least a 4 hr break every day.....
Ok, at this point, from my experiences, plants do seem healthier when they have sleep.

But I am still not convinced perhaps I am doing something wrong.

Can anyone show me a plant that has been under light for a year???

I will continue my experimentations!

You are wasting your time man.
Plants do so much during there sleep time just like us. Heal, digest, roots grow, the list goes on & i do not know all the terms just the Fact that they need they're 6-8 hrs sleep. They do 85% better all around this way.

Would you like Wu-Tang Clan to stick toothpicks in your eyelids & keep feeding you nuthin but sleeping pills???

Stop torturing you poor girls man.
I never grew an autoflower but if i did, you can bet I'd even be giving her a few hrs sleep.
Oh, n maybe stop buying your timers at the Dollar Store.
They need a solid routine & appreciate it down to the minute.

I mean, some have moms for years, granted not cranked full time due to cost.

Like I said earlier look at Alaska outdoor growers and the monster annuals they produce from no/ short dark period in summer months. Not all food crop varieties show this behavior though, trial and error.

Good luck

yes , i have mothers that are over a year old on 24/7.
I am ALL FOR 18/6 an giving the plants sleep BUT the proof is in the pudding. there are thousands of folks doing 24/7 lights on. i promise you cannot show me a plant doing better on 18/6 ....just as good , yes, faster growth, maybe.....overall looks , nothing to see. mechanical timers from walmart or the dollar store are just fine. Buy a 15 amp hydrofarm and show me the difference. I burn up a timer about every 5 years or so and thats almost always from overloading it. i got 4k on 2 dollar store timers ;)

this one is around a year old ....20200504_095646.jpg
second one just came out of a solo cup .....been in there for about 3 months on 24 hours.

all those in the first pic are a year old. few mites as always but healthy all in all.
lights are "dim" .....dont have a meter but im sure they are lower then 500umol. just corn style led bulbs ....100 watts each.

My plants have no trouble dealing with 24 hours of light at all. I leave them like that for months. Both for mother plants and plants in veg phase.

Cannabis plants are C3 plants. They do NOT need sleep.

If your plants are yellowing then they are probably underfed. You do need to realize that when you give the plants more light over the day (DLI) they also need more nutrients.

I give the plants the same DLI. So they get 50% of the light intensity when I have them at 24/0 compared to when I switch them to flowering 12/12. twice the number of hours at half the intensity means same DLI.

When I kept the light intensity at 100% while switching from veg to flower I always noticed that the EC in my hydro reservoir would go nuts. Other than replacing the reservoir it was always rather difficult to correct. When I do 24/0 at 50% intensity I can switch over to 12/12 at 100% intensity with no troubles at all. The plants transition way smoother.

Of course I could also keep the DLI stable with 18/6 at 75% intensity, but I like doing 24/0 because:
- Climate stays stable for the seedlings/cuttings the whole day
- I allows me to take take move them to 12/12 at whatever time I feel like. Some go in the "morning" tent and others in the "evening" tent.
