ive found it doesnt really matter. my plants seem to dry in around the same time whether they were recently watered or not.
I flushed my plants with 1/4 strength nutes, then have had them on plain water for 1 week so far.
So if a plant was about to wilt, or the lower leaves were just starting to wilt you wouldn't hesitate to chop then?

No you don't and if you do then the plants have been fried with nutrients.
I know some people choose to feed feed nutes right up until harvest. I'm not one of those people. That is not what I need to know. I like to know plain water has been given to the plant for a week.
@budman111 Whether you feed nutes or not, would you harvest a plant that dry and about to wilt? or would you feed it to maybe give it enough water to help break down the chlorophyll?

This was debunked years ago. Once the nutrients and salts have been absorbed by the plants they cannot be removed or reduced simply by flushing the soil or coco. The only point to flushing is to save money by reducing the amount of nutrients being used or to fix issues in the soil or coco caused by over feeding.

I usually let my plants go dry before harvest actually. Just personal preference though. I find it lets me remove more fan leaves by plucking them off instead of trimming them so I get less stem in my buds. Also, it makes me feel like I'm getting a little head start on the drying process. I'm not necessarily recommending you do the same, just saying it won't negatively effect your harvest.
Also, I don't believe in flushing before a harvest. But we're already rehashing that argument in another thread so I'm going to leave it at that haha.

I like your thought process. Try half and half. Water half your plants and chop em 4-6 later, and leave the others almost start to wilt then chop em. Keep a journal and compare how long it took each set to dry, then see how they smoke and give us your results and opinion. Nothing beats experience. That's what we are all he for. Sharing our experiences makes us all better growers.

Just because I'm feeding plain water for the last week doesn't mean I have overfed my plants. I feed at around 600ppm, 700ppm maximum. Plus I also feed just cal mag at about 150ppm 1 in 3 feeds to help it use the nutes in the coco so I don't get build up. They are happy.
Still I'm an old school soil grower that now grows in coco. I like the fade where you get yellow, red and purple leaves. Just only want to know about feeding the plants water or not before harvesting. I only have 1 plant in a 3ft x 3ft tent, so not much to compare it to. Other 6 3ft x 3ft tents are different strains.

An old native man taught me to strip the plant besides the buds and cut off the roots then hang them right side up so the water flows into the stem he used to let them go dry for 14 days before chopping and his buds where dried and curing in Jars within a month, those old fellas are the absolute best teachers..
