Let's see, it took Hitler 12 years to turn Germany into a pile of rubble dottled with death camps, but the first 4 years of Hitler weren't bad, economically speaking, unless you were Jewish of course. Donald has had a pretty good start in his first 4 years, Adolf never crashed the economy, or fucked the county in his first four years, the trains ran and the mail was delivered on time, he never betrayed his country to the Russians either.
I'm not saying Hitler was a nice guy! I believe the late Charlie Manson would have been a better POTUS than Donald!
Both Donald and Bill Barr know they are going to prison for the rest of their miserable existences if they lose in Nov, there is nothing further the law, as constituted can do. They both have absolutely nothing to lose by pulling out all the stops that they can in cheating, stealing and disrupting the election to the extent that they can. DeJoy's lawyers must have been hyperventilating in terror as they explained what he could face in the coming years, I'm sure they got Louie's attention. DeJoy ain't in too deep yet, he can still get himself out of trouble if he pulls back and delivers the mail before election day, all delays will be tracked since he took over, a major inquiry is coming over the USPS. I think DeJoy can be scared into doing the right thing, he would be taking far too big a risk with his freedom and will have to answer uncomfortable questions in the future. The USPS delivers over 470 million pieces of mail a day, a hundred million first class ballots mailed over weeks should not be an issue. Also lot's of republican politicians are on those ballots too and rural populations (his base) get fucked the most by mail disruptions.

That's why we have presidents and prime ministers, though prime ministers tend to operate with and among peers, even those in other parties. Ever since we've had leaders in our hierarchical social structures, there are those who have "faith" in the leader, more if they are conditioned to it over time. Most of the time in recent history the leaders have been good, at least in the west, this is largely due to the spread of liberal democracy and the public demands of honest, responsible and even professional government. Leaders like kings became less important in many parliamentary systems, queens and presidents are largely symbolic, except for guarding the constitution, then they have great power, otherwise they are apolitical.
A time of great strife and challenges does throw up great leaders though, people who meet and surmount significant challenges that are seen to be threats to their people. A cult of personality or more correctly hero worship arises around such people as FDR and Churchill, in part for the just and stable world order they helped to create with the UN and the gradual end of colonialism. Things never turned out the way they hoped, but they gave the world and it's citizens a pretty fair shake.
Liberalism means competing fairly with places like China on a level playing field, of being smacked in the face by the glove of business and technological challenge and that motivates excellence and innovation. Sputnik did more for America than it ever did for the Russians, the Russian kick in the nuts lead to immense improvements in science and math education funding in the USA. Everybody has been living with the technological payoff for decades, from GPS, weather satellites, fiber optics, cellphones, new generations of digital TVs and the internet to name but a few, oh yeah, going to the moon over 50 years ago too...
when pompeo used to make the rounds during impeachment he would literally move his mouth and make babbling noises like a baby repeating it's mother then you'd be able to make out one word..i thought that was pretty outrageous.
