Why not... Some serious reaching going on there.I'm not trying to call you out, the opposite, do you have any specifics I can read into?.
I can appreciate the fact that you are willing to experiment instead of sticking to a rule of thumb. There’s no one perfect way to grow. It’s about finding what you like and running with it. Some defoliate, some lollipop, some don’t do anything. Neither one should be in competition with each other, but should be considered different growing styles. Some strains might not like to be mucked with, other strains may love it. Experimentation is the only way we move forward, not sticking to the same old guns. Its threads like these that show versus telling. Mad props!!!Sup RIU.
Was in another thread about why defoliation is such an at odds topic. I had mentioned I was doing a side by side by side comparison of the 3 styles. I will show some pics of begining of flower and document them going forward for all of us.
Some variables that probably will cause many to disqualify this grow are.... outdoor plants, not clones (all from seed from same mother) but pheno types will cause a conversation, and when they began to flower. Defoliated plant began flowering exactly 1 week after the other 2.
Here is 1st picture this here is 1 week ago when I did a major defoliation. I did not go insane, but its a large difference from natural.
From left to right.
Defoliated plant, Plant I didn't do shit but cut some bottom fan leaves to make watering easier for the middle one and the lollipop on the far right.

Defoliation was on the 14th. Next will be Sept 3rd.
Here is today same left to right.

Now some things I have already noticed.
The defoliated plant became very sensitive to nutrients. To the point where 15% of recommended value began burns. The other 2 took them like champions on 1st feed after defoliation. The second feeding on all went off without a hitch.
Both the defoliated and lollipop began showing nirtogen deficiencies as well while the didnt do shit plant seems perfectly fine. Gotta say I like how the lollipop is and the didn't do shit is budding. Which defoliate is to early for me to say if im a fan.
All were topped and LST thru veg, all went through the same bullshit element issues from being outdoors, and all have had the same nutes the entire time.
Soil recipe 420 soil, FF line of nutes, and lots of love.
All 3 are BC big bud

Nope just an idea. Nothing I’m married to. Figured any stress would cause increase in THC as a protector reguardless of stress typeI've only read as far that most stresses will either stunt growth or increase stretch rates. In terms of thc production the only thing I recall reading was that cob/led level ''light stress'' (not hps heat stress) or uv can increase thc. But I could well be confusing this with terp production.

I was thinking same thing.Man, I am very interested in this experiment. Also this same experiment but indoors would be cool.
That will be next year lol but its coming. Il keep you in mind.cool side by side, please tag me when they are done from the same clone please.

I dont have a indoor setup unfortunately. I grow all my years worth of product outside between April and October.I was thinking same thing.
But most of the people on here aren't killing them on purpose! We see people all the time kill indoor plants and start new ones like its nothing.
Oh? I always kill them on purpose. In fact I grow 'em to kill 'em ;pBut most of the people on here aren't killing them on purpose!
I don't kill them, I harvest them. It's more PC. LOLOh? I always kill them on purpose. In fact I grow 'em to kill 'em ;p
I gently guide them to the light before cremating their lovingly prepared bodies in beautiful ceremony celebrating the circle of life.I don't kill them, I harvest them. It's more PC. LOL
I can't tell if that was sarcasm, since it's technically true over a full cycle of repeat defoliation. But either way, I'd rather have more harvested buds at the end than more ''harvested'' leaves. Sorry worms ;p.It does seem that when I do defoliate I have much more leaf materials to compost or feed my worms.
