First Auto-flower Wanted to Share

Any advice is welcome! I’m growing a Tangerine Dream Auto I’ll attach an album at the bottom of the post. It’s in a 3 gallon fabric pot, Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil 60% and 40% perlite. I have just watered with 6.0-6.5 PHed tap water that I’ve left out for 24 hours. Temp and humidity is sitting mostly stable at 76F and 62%. Day time and roughly 68F-70F during lights out. I’m thinking I have my humidifier controller dialed in now.

My light is the HLGQB96v2 with a Meanwell HLG 185H-54A Driver that is almost maxed out at 30” above the plant. Inline fan is detached from the filter and runs 24/7.

Not sure if it’s stretching to much or if on the other end of the spectrum the light is too strong for it yet. A couple days ago I had an issue where my humidifier shut off. Shot temps up to 86F and humidity down to 39%. This was only for an hour or so and was remedied after that, not sure if that contributed to the odd looking leaf. Anyways thanks for looking!!

Would love any input regarding any thoughts on how the first set of True leaves look. Part of one of the leaves is curling up, the other looks like it’s “dented” inward. I speculate it could be heat damage that was caused when my temps shot up to 86F.

I think some people do 24/0 lights or 20/4 but I want to give my plant a rest so I use the standard 18/6. A lot of growth happens during that dark period. With autos you don’t have to alter the light schedule to induce flower they flower on their own timeline. So I plan to run 18/6 the entire time.

FfOF is a very hot soil. To hot for seedlings.

However your seedling looks ok. The 1st set of true leaves will be coming in next.

Don't over water and don't over love.

I get that some people do it with success but many others burn the shit out of their seedlings.

Its to easy to just go off of personal experience and ignore the countless others having a different experience bud.

I’m just Phing my water because I have very high PH tap. No additional nutes added at all. I don’t plant to add any either.

I’ll see if it becomes an issue however!

This thread was created to help those who seem to overthink the ease of use of this highly ammended bag soil. I see many growers both new and experienced seem to post “ issues “ when trying to run this medium. I am merely showing a simple no frills method of container / bag grows for autos...

Interesting. That is around where my tap is also and I leave it out for 24 hours at-least. Gives me something to think about then. I don’t see how PHing to 6.5 would be an issue tho.

When soil is fresh there are active microbes that deliver nutrients to your plants.

The point of Phing is to keep the feed in a range where it can be uptaken by the plant.

The microbes do that job for you until they become inactive. Which they will unless you are recharging them.

In soil we begin to pH the water because the microbes become inactive and can no longer deliver the nutrients.

Depending what you are using to pH your water you could be killing microbes with it.

I start seeds by dropping directly in 50/50 HF/FFOF. No soaking or paper towel. Straight tap water, no ph, no nutes, etc. Never had any issues. Plant babies are like human babies. Even the prettiest can start out ugly af. Let her grow up a bit more.

Ahh okay that makes sense. Thanks for that info! To ph my water I use a dropper and apple cider vinegar.

This is my 1st grow too. I read everything i could exercised common sense and the folks here helped me tons. Just dont over think anything. Less is more in this hobby. When you water you plants. Pick up the container and feel how heavy it is and remember that. Wait a few days and pick it up again and when its really light ,you need to water again. Message me directly if you have any trouble. Pictures were taken at 6 weeks old
