Switch hps to led during flower

What do you think of switch light from a 400w hps to led ( lm301h with hlg240..) during flower , day 50
A frend of mine cant wait to start his New led.

Iam bot sure if that stress the plants to much?
 
would you be able to keep the temps up? If its only to get started with the led id just do it right on the next grow. I dont see much upside in changing especially this late in the flower cycle, whats the benefit?. But of course can be done.

Yes temps 25-26 C.
He wants to save Energie (400w hps with a old balast with cool tube / New led = 210 Watt on 2×3sf , lm301h + cree 660+730 +390nm )
And of course he wants to use his New Super cool led :D

If that 210w is wall pull, then he'll be ok if only for less heat to deal with but it will grow weed. I too replaced a cool tube 400w hps with 280w comb of led/cobs and am growing the most fruitful plants ever.

You need around 300watts of LM301H (or LM301B) to equal 400w HPS. Also depending on the brand of board, the same diodes could have a 10% to 15% reduction in light compared to top bin lm301 diodes.

But it is on 2×3feet
And the 400 hps got a realy Bad cootube with a old ballst, so he loses a lot ( that equals maybe 350w)
He grows hippy style ;) , and yiled is not his prime target

If he would use more ,he would burn his plants on that space

Sounds like enough light for the space, but still likely less photons compared to the 400w HPS. Older ballasts won't reduce the output so much as they will draw more watts to light the lamp (ie: a 400watt magnetic ballast might draw 450watts).

It is old , i testen it it draw just 410w
I know +10% on old ballst is normal

Yes 400 hps around 58.000 Lumen
I think 210w of his led 42.000lumen if iam not wrong.

But you have to add the loss of cooltube (Glass and the Air Stream reduces the efficence )
