"Hempy Buckets" is a RIU term. It's actually called Dutch Bucket Hydroponics.
This has a pretty good basic description.
Not entirely true. Hempy is not just a term on RIU.
Original hempy is a passive system. Years ago a guy called hempy on the old og ( back when my forums were illegal) didn’t come up with passive judo ( been around for hundreds of years) but came up with a repeatable way of easy passive hydro growing. Basically a bucket, a hole drilled 2 inches up, and feeding till solution comes out every 3 days. A simple idiot proof way of growing, that as time passes, folks have made more complicated.
Google hempy bucket and you’ll find lots of info.

All journal entries will now be made over in the new "swAmp" hydroponics grow thread linked here...

So,
Due to my ignorance of certain rules, any further discussion of my new bucket system can be done by privately contacting me.
I will still be creating some other prototypes in hopes of other growers testing them out.

I will be ceasing all journals and focusing on a new hybrid hydroponic growing equipment development company, "swAmp Hydroponics" here...
Please come check it out or contact us @ swamphydroponics@gmail.com

Fuck if you can get a setup to Australia I'd be keen to buy a setup off ya.
Yeah, shipping would be $$$. :)
I'm surprised and happy with how well it's gone so far.

According to everyone's thinking, (including my own), the system shouldn't work and I should have major root rot.

But, as the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding...

Cloning straight into the new system.
Pre-fill the site with regular veg feed...

20210102_001248.jpg
Cutting goes into a 2" net pot containing a soaked 1.5" rockwool cube...
20210102_001326.jpg
With some vermiculite to fill the hole...
20210102_001802.jpg
LECA on top of the cube, net pot placed in the site...
20210102_002335.jpg
And a dome to finish it off.
20210102_002452.jpg
Takes about 10 minutes start to finish.
The site is watered automatically, the same as all the others in the veg tent regardless of their age. (.25gal every 6 hrs per site.)

About as easy as I could think to make it...
I'm loving the new system. Can't wait to get rid of the last of the perlite for good.

Still working on the setup and new system. I'm still waiting to see the results from the first flower plant.

Between moving my tents around, changing my lighting setups and switching feeds, everything got stressed and hadn't been the best lately but are on the mend now.

I had to remove the 315w cmh from the veg tent.
With the Phillips 3100k bulb, the plants are very lanky and looked really unhappy. I wouldn't recommend one for vegging.

So now, veg is being run with a 400w 6k MH in my xxxl reflector that has the glass removed and is running "uncooled" to help raise temperatures a bit. I have the 6" exhaust on an inkbird controller set to 75F.

For a 400w bulb in a 41"x29" reflector, the coverage is surprisingly good.

Will update on flower once it's all back together.

Beautiful as expected. My only question is why not clean the spaghetti up on the ceiling. Not the Smoke I think of. Friendly nudge.

Best wishes and glad to see you and your toys. Hoping to gift some more soon so I can start. Got some beans burning through my pocket thing. LOL.

Yeah everything still needs a lot of TLC. I'm about to cut my ropes to length. They've bugged me for a long time now. :(
Every since I made the change from perlite/vermiculite, I feel like a new grower, chasing my tail and 2 steps behind the plants.
But, I "believe" things are back on track now.

Definitely more work to be done though.

Flower tent is currently running in "low power mode" with a 600w hps and 315w cmh.

I have my other 600w hps in there waiting for plants to arrive.
I've changed from a 600w mh for veg to a 400w and am going to be running the 2x- 600+Cmh in flower instead of my 2x- 1000w for a while.
I'm "hoping" to not see much change in yields, but that will remain to be seen.
I'll still be pushing a little over 50w/sq ft. So fingers crossed.

That gelato though...I have some gelato, gsc, and green poison coming. The Skywalker og, was amazing and the chemdog is too. Nirvana is gonna be my go to. The only thing is it seems after every order the prices go up, but still cheaper than other places I guess
