Flood to wick only

Hello all. I've tried a few things in my time. Was fogging for a bit. But it just doesn't have enough power for big girls. Plus moving fog is a nightmare.
My Idea next is to make a flood table/a pool but without a drain system.
What do you all think about flooding tables with smart pots and promix in it. But only adding enough water to get wicked up?
Where then there would be no waste of standing water. Just flood little amounts so the plants get what they need and thats it.

I gotta ask, why not flood and drain in the typical manner?

The flooding and draining process sucks air into the root system which is beneficial, along with providing water and nutes to the plant.

Well the plan is one giant res of r/o water with a strong pump that will pump through 3 different dosatrons at different times using skunkwerks all & B for one vegroom and 2 flower rooms. Tired of cleaning 4 resiviors. Plus needing the space for them.
Also hieght is an issue for i like growing big girls for monster buds and I'm not trying to have to pull them down all the time.
Was thinking a pondliner floor with a 2×4 lip around it for each room. Where i only need one big pvc line for each pool to bring in nutes. Instead of a million little hoses for drip system. I could drain to waste but hate to waste nutes. So instead of adding like 3in of nute water as flood to drain do. I would use only like 1/2an inch or so per pool. Once dialed in I'd know what the plants can completely wick up in a day. To be dry the next day.
Also would make for easy cleaning when setting up for a new run.
If a pot in a tray setup. It'd be like watering your plants by filling the trays. Not by top feeding. Seems plausible. Just wonder if plants can actually wick up enough with such a low level of water in the table?
Guess i could not waste your time and test the tray bottom feed idea first.
Just brain storming to make the easiest system ever. Would be automated with minimal cleaning.
Plus they'd get fresh nutes and water daily. Not recycled old nute water and it would be way..cheaper than 4 res with 4 pumps and tons of expensive flood tables. Veg room will be split in 2 pools but in same room.
One flaw I see is in transplanting clones. Atm I use solid colored solo cups with a clear solo cup over them. Then they go in 5gallon smart pots. The half inch of water might not be enough to reach the newly transplanted clones roots. Will have to start making taller clones to bury deeper so as to get water and not dry out n die.
