What happens if you don't use 2 sizes of drip lines?

I see some drip irrigation kits with 2 sizes, and some with 1. Would it be a bad idea to cut costs and use one uniform tube size?

Depends on the setup. Some are like that to have more volume the. Reduce to regulate pressure and flow throughout the system.
