Hey guys,
Im now on week 4 of flower for my super silver haze x northern lights, and only recently since the past two weeks have I had this nasty rash. I used to get it on my arms when I would train, but it would be just small bumps. I didn’t mind it at all. Now they are spreading everywhere! When I say everywhere, I mean it lol

It reminds me of poison oak. I’ve had it for 2 weeks now and it doesn’t seem to be getting better. Have you guys experienced anything similar during flowering period? Here are pics. Thanks for your help!

My wife has lupus and the sun affects her this way. If she's out in the sun too long without good sunblock, she gets a nasty rash on her chest and arms similar to what you have. Probably not what you're experiencing because you're not in the sun, but might be worth investigating. Could have a sensitivity to your lights. Do you foliar feed your plants? Have you always had this problem in your grows?

I grow with an 1800 COB Full spectrum LED. Is this something that is known to cause sensitivity? Also I don’t foliar feed. I top soil though but it’s all organic stuff as well. It seems that if I scratch it, then scratch somewhere else it will transfer over. Sucks sooo bad. Almost not worth growing lol. I do work on my plants with exposed skin sometimes but have stopped since this as well.

Aw thank you so much for taking the time to reply. It means everything!

Hello, I am allergic to limonene, it's a terpene in Cannabis and a natrual terpene found in fruits such as lemons, etc, now this terpene causes me to flare up with contact dermatitis

Basically I am allergic to cannabis as limonene is in a lot of strains.

Now. I grow strains low in limonene.

It appears you have an allergic reaction too.

In my last grow, I had the worst reactions when handling the plant bare hands. Wear nitrate free gloves when handling them and especially when chopping.

I swear it's like a skunk spraying toxins on to the skin as last ditch attempt to stay alive when you chop them, my hands burnt red raw when I chopped my first two plants with no gloves. That is what it feels like, apparently its rare for reactions like this to happen, you must be allergic to a terpene such as linaool or limonene as both are skin irritants.

On the last, I used gloves, a massive difference, after a good cure, my reactions faded.

I have changed my soap too as it contained limonene as most soaps do as it is a natrual cleaning agent too.

It happens when it oxidises with the air

yes you can get photosensativity to led lights, i dont know what it looks like, but i found this just quickly.
Called photosensitivity or photophobia by medical professionals, this condition effects millions of people. It isn't life-threatening, but it should be taken seriously. This abnormal intolerance to LED light can cause extreme discomfort, making some wonder if they are suffering sick building syndrome.

During the flowering, cannabis plants are especially high in terpenes, this is why you are seeing the reaction you are seeing.

You are allergic to a terpene, in there, do you know the terpene profile of the strain?

It really does suck, tbh, it really has affected the way the view cannabis now. I have to grow weed low in limonene and its hard to balance it out. It is like a nightmare but I'll get through it and so will you.

Haze strains have many terpenes in, limonene especially, it appears super silver haze is one of these strains.

However, from my own experience, I flared up more when I was growing her, touching her hands on, chopping her was the worst, after a cure though it was much better, I also changed my soap as I said ealier, this has helped me a lot.

I get contact dermatitis from limonene, it is a type of excma, it appears yours is too.

You are not alone here.

Buy some gloves and don't have any skin contact with the plant until its dry.

I noticed the more sticky/wet, more terps stick to your hands and skin obviously because a terpene is INSIDE the tricombe with the sticky thc so they stick to you like glue and that causes mass irritation

Damn, that’s terrible. I hope it’s not the light though because then how can you avoid that? Anyways I appreciate your help (:

woah! I think you have literally solved my problem. You should be a doctor haha! Yeah I figured it had to do something with the TRICHROMES because it only seemed to happen when she flowered! And she is a very very frosty haze.
I am no longer looking forward to harvest day hahaha

what you have looks like ciontact dermatitus, after handeling your plants you look likr youve rubbed your neck

I messaged my seed company who I use called Dutch passion. For most of their strains, especially automatics, they have a very detailed chart of all the terpenes in that given strain.

For example, I grew auto ultimate and this is the strain that burned my skin like fucking HELL, she has 8.7% limonene in and this is what had made me react.

I messaged Dutch passion explaining this and they advised me to grow strains low in limonene, which I am doing now, such as auto night queen which contains pretty much no limonene in at all. She's a ball to grow and so far, so good with my skin!

I think Dutch passion is like the only company putting the terp profiles out for their seeds
