Thats what I'm trying to figure out is it just guys with egos saying LEDs are better or are they actually better?

More power savings less heat output more spread ...cant confirm on penetration
These are just observations i see after couple times using one

Yeah thats what I gathered one can be better than the other or they can be on par depends on your individual situation

I wont go back to hps no matter wat
..hlg and qbs suit my growing style and climate area
Easy for me to say indoor is perso for me not bothered selling to recoup power bills etc
All run on solar for nothing

I'm in wa so climate shouldn't be an issue for me doesn't get that cold in winter that the LEDs wouldn't produce enough heat

My amnesia haze #1 pulls over 2lb of bud long flower tho approx 11 weeks and my blue dream hits 2lb, my amnesia haze #2 I hit 1.75 with, blue cheese recent grow hit 1.5lb, you've seen my pics you decide for yourself if it's topshelf in your eyes or not im not going down that pathway

They are good numbers. I mean absolutely no offence at all but I just cant shift hazes and blue dream for 4k round here. Believe me if I could I would.

only reason to should swap out hps for led is if you want to run less ac.

Yeah most people like their indicas, have better bag appeal and what not but comparing my recent run being indica dominant to my usual sativa runs the indicas just don't give me the high im after I rate my amnesia #1 over my blue cheese in strength, but at the end of the day the shit gets you high and your tolerance grows with your weed so just enjoy

To the contrary, its hps fan bois like jzs who have little to no understanding of the technology and are stuck in the past. Leds, watt for watt will outperform hps all day long. There's a reason hps use is in terminal decline.

How confident are you that a hlg650 will smash a 600w hps? Coz I've been interested in led but don't wanna replace my hps setup only to find out it isn't as good. I can pull up to a lil bit over 2lb off a 600w hps

It effects your per light numbers though due to spread of light from other lights.

LED has bugger all spread as far as im aware, that's why LED growers light to the edges.

I think where things get confused is when comparing a small grow, where a bunch of LED strips will cane a single HPS but when you have mutliple lights its pretty much the same. If you have 4 x 600W of LED or HPS its still 2400 watts. I think you are thinking about how you can spread the LEDs out over the whole space where the HPS is a single light source but if you have a lot of them hung high then it all evens out in the end.
