Can I substitute cfl for led in case of a emergency?

My cooling fans for my cob led makes to much noise. When I have guests can I turn off my leds and use a cfl bulb (6400k)? It's gonna receive same amount of light. My leds are full spectrum. So lower intensity, different spectrum but same time.

I mean they won’t die. Are they in the area where you grow? Why does your cob light have fans? Can you not keep the grow where others wouldn’t see it? Tell them to mind their business or kick rocks.

I have cooling fans because it needs them to not over heat. Other options are impossible.

Don't you have air circulations which make noise too? You can turn your light off when your guests are over once in a while and it will be fine. Cannabis plants care about uninterrupted night cycles, but they aren't too picky about their day cycles. I would just pony up and get a fanless fixture.

Non of my drivers need fans. Most drivers dont. Again why not tell your guest to piss off and mind their business. If they are guest wouldn't they already know you grow or use? Why have ppl over that disagree with your stance on cannabis? Soooo many questions run through my head when it’s my place. i don’t understand letting other ppl‘s opinion(especially friends or guest) on how I live out my life.

It's funny, you're talking about people giving opinions in an unwanted fashion yet you continue to give yours without answering OPs question...

Yes, using CFL's wouldnt be a big deal.

True I just can't get why ppl let others dictate how they live out their lifes. I had sailors that were in my shop when I was the LPO 20yrs old still had their parents paying for their cell phones, car insurance and shit. I'm like were about to to go get shot at. You make good money why are do you still rely on your parents to pay your way through life?

You don't know what you are talking about. When the plant gets less light it starts flowering.

If the plants are still veging, the CFLs will prevent them from flowering if you are running them for the same time period as you would have run the LEDs. If the plants are on 12/12 flower and you substitute CFL for LED and maintain the same light time period, then the plants will continue to flower. If you are running autoflowers and you substitute CFL and continue to run the same time period, then the plants will continue to mature as autoflowers do.

6400k CFL is quite a bit to the blue side of the spectrum. Such a significant change in spectrum might stress the plants...maybe induce some herming, but I don't know for sure. If you have to make the substitution, it's not going to kill the plants. It will be less than desirable, but you've got to do what you've got to do.

If the plants are flowering, they will make a strong smell. You might not notice it so much since you're around it all the time, but visitors will notice the smell right away if you don't have very good odor control.

Good luck! Peace:peace:

It's not just about "less light" to start flowering, it's really about more continuous dark. You can give a plant only 4 hours of light a day, and keep it from flowering if you have the light intervals spaced properly. For example, you could have a light come on for just one hour after 5 hours of dark, and repeat that cycle continuously and it won't flower. Most cannabis plants need at least 11 or 12 hours of continuous uninterrupted dark time to flower.

I feel like your ignoring the fact that you still need fans for air circulation in your grow. Are you planning on turning those off when guests come over too, or do you not have air circulation fans?

Ok … * takes off monks robe

Look CFL is STILL a light source ( bandaid ) … run “ Daytime “ spec ( 5000k -6500k ) - more blue for Vegging plants.
Run 2700k “ warm “ spec for flower . Many growers have grown with FLOUROS …hell I still got an old induction lamp floating around the garage somewhere. T5 rigs / Agromax bulbs can and do grow . What do you think micro green growers use ?

Not an issue … Home Depot has Feint Electric / EcoSmart bulbs that will work , actually any good spiral should work .
Plant will be fine … it will think day is overcast.

More importantly… either fix or shitcan failing light / fans. Unless you like house fires.
Guests would probably not give two shits if saddled with fan “ noise “ … as you can say room fans are doing it.

BIGGEST QUESTION …. What about the smell ?
