Help need to choose growing media for Hydro

It's been a while 2013 my first hydro grow was successful indoor Chronic. in a 6ft locker grow cabinet. I currently germ'd 4 Wht Tahoes. paper towel to solo cup, fox farm - perlite. they are all 1 inch with 4 true leaves. now my problem is picking a medium to go with back to hydro. any suggestions. I have the following to work with. its going into net pot bubbler first then to net pot top watering when they get to nutrient stage. Please I am open to constructive criticism. my first hydro I can't remember if I used rockwool with hydroton on top or straight hydroton. been to long. thank you for the responses.

In my mind, use whatever is best for what they will finally be grown in. Yeah, if you are doing legit hydro, you can grow germinated seeds in soil or rapid rooters and then transplant them, but placing a germinated seed, tail down, into a rockwool cube or better yet an oasis cube, and placing that cube into whatever mesh cup you are using, then topping them off with hydrocorn will always be the better way.

Are you 100% on doing hydro at least in that sense? Soil or coco maybe instead? I'm not a fan of coco but better then bubble buckets and less issues with the plants dying over the course of a few hours if something should fail.

Well I have 2 outside in soil. That are doing good. I'm leaving those. This would be for 2 I have not germinated yet. I decided not to mess with trying to transplant these to hydro. Just wondering what media. Most people are using for hydro. Thanks

I've always used hydrotron. Clones hang in collars in the cloner and then get transplanted into 3 inch pots with hydrotron. Veg for 2-3 weeks and flip. .

rapid rooters are much more forgiving IMO as far as wet and dry.

first decide what type of hydro you want to run and then figure out the best media for it. not vice versa.

is everyone on agreement to throw rapid rooters out the window for hdyro grow. They are supposed to be the biggest hype? this is the set up i would be using.

why don't you try half in rockwool and half in rapid rooters? would be a good experiment

Nope, Rapid Rooters and Rockwool both work fine for seed starting before you move to net pots with Hydroton. It's simply a matter of personal preference. Use what works for you. One thing I wouldn't do is touch a newly germinated seedling. Bacteria on your hands is one of the main causes of damping off. Anyway you can start seeds in most anything. I like Jiffy Pellets.

i prefer RR's for my setup: i start seeds in a small aero unit so they stay soaking wet all the time.

I tried to add a little more information. Sometimes I'm too brief.

I start mine in Jiffy Pellets in a closed plastic Jiffy Pellet greenhouse, in a shoe box on a heating mat LOL there are many ways to do this. I just wanted to point out that Rapid Rooters aren't hyped snake oil even though I may do it differently they work well.
