But because the other product doesn't have some silly name and isn't targeted specifically towards cannabis growers many will just dismiss it as being no good even though it is perfectly fine to use.

I'm not saying Miracle Gro would be my first choice but if it was all I could get I wouldn't think twice about using it. The goal is to grow weed and you can do that successfully with Miracle Gro if needed.

I have a friend that buys whatever soil is the cheapest and feeds nothing but Alaska Fish fertilizer. They've been growing that way for decades and their results blow away much of what you'll see online from people selling a kidney to pay for all the expensive products they're using.

I go cheap but I have a soil that's done all organic and targeted for vegetables and such. MG how I have seen guys use in a commercial level and fail testing for heavy metals.
 
Pretty much all products are going to have some heavy metals in them even FoxFarm Ocean Forest.

It's just data. It shows that one of the most popular soils contains heavy metals. That's all I was pointing out. The idea that most of these cannabis specific products are free of heavy metals is incorrect. Some have significant amounts. Maybe Miracle Gro has more. That doesn't have anything to do with other products. Go to that link and look at any cannabis specific nutrient company. 99.999999% of all the products have small amounts of lead and arsenic. Now multiply that with the 10-12 bottles many people are using. It adds up to higher levels than Miracle-Gro potting mix.

Hell, lets just take a look at one popular product. Advanced Nutrients PH Perfect Grow. This is just one example of higher levels than Miracle-Gro potting soil. There's more lead and arsenic in the popular cannabis specific fertilizers people are regularly using on their plants.

Got him to try better soil and nutes and now he sings praises to me about how he can't believe how much better his weed is now. I wouldn't even use mg on my lawn.

The nutes or soil do not make the flower or the potency, that my friend is 100% genetics. The fact that can grow giant plants with minimal anything is nature.

I took some courses, actual accredited botany that applies to all things that grow, unlike the bros and cool guys "with talent" that think you must create some organic supersoil to achieve "dank weed bro."

you feed the plant to keep it from dying, all you guys thinking your going to feed it all these things that's going to make it more potent lol...

My outdoor plants get organic nutrients cause I'm not into smoking loads of heavy metals. I never said you have to buy into a line of nutes. Just saying there's way better products than miracle grow. Personally.... Again personally I don't like mg I don't support Scott's and I won't use their stuff.
You're getting all defensive about it. I never knocked your plants or your grow and never said you can't grow plants with mg. I just said that I think (my own opinion) that mg is garbage, and as a cannabis grower it's embarrassing to say you grow with mg. Just as it's embarrassing to show up to a job site with black and decker tools. It shows lack of experience and knowledge. I'm a Makita guy. Honestly I wouldn't even use mg on hanging baskets of ornamentals.
You can do whatever you want man. You're the one saying you're a noob and harvested your first grow, so I'm not sure where you got the experience from but that's cool man. One day you'll gain more knowledge and prob shake your head at the fact you used mg or you'll have heavy metal poisoning either or.

your plants are 'mg huge'. Tiny spindly stems leaves are 3 finger (stress) and nodes are super spaced out. Notice how every stem has a ton of tiny shoots? The plants are way too bushy and you'll end up with more Larfy bud then anything. Thats what mg does. It's not about the size of a plant. Just because your plants are big doesn't mean they are good. But if it's good enough for you then cool man. Do you.
I'm really not trying to be a jerk although it may come across that way.

About when would you suggest adding the fertilizer? I'm guessing when I transplant into their final containers from solo cups? Maybe just some light compost tea after the first couple nodes? I'm honestly quite stoked to not have to deal with constantly battling resevior temps.

Although I’m with ya. And I can personally attest to the miracle grow brain syndrome. Maybe. Or maybe it’s in the water, or just the air. I don’t know.

the real issue is there are so many products. New ones every year. From what I understand the absolute worst is some of the soils/fertilizer with Time release technology. Niw does that mean some of their brands grow decent cannabis. I don’t know cause I wouldn’t use it. But I don’t use salts to begin with
 
Hi, my father and i have usually always used miraclegrow. I have had many successful grows with it.
This year i have started another miracle grow outdoors with bagseed. Im looking forward to it.

Bottom line to soils is that you don't want anything that has time released nutrients, it does not matter whether that Cannabis is miraclegrow or something else .

I dont like the bashing of MG. Ive had some real amazing grows of both food and cannabis using MG.
So far ive grown Short Ryder, Cheese, Northern Lights and a few others .

This year i am doing Zkittlez, Blue Cheese, and some others that im forgetting. Will update.
 
Fuck Scotts. They may not be Monsanto, but they are almost as bad for being the north american distributor of round up. That shit is now in our groundwater and in our bloodstream. My first cannabis grow more than 20 years ago was with MG, and as far as a nute it works fine, but as far as a company, I hope they shrivel up and die a horrible death.

I used Miracle grow and Miracle grow organic and Black Gold on my first grow. Plants did ok but the organic MG had fungus gnats. I had the best results with the regular MG. The BG was ok, should probably have added more nutrients there at the end. Considering the grow was in a couple of cardboard boxes in the garage under cheap Amazon lights I would say the MG worked fine.
