Cloning hallow stem growth tips? Possible? (Runtz and GG)

I have been experimenting with Mainlining and Manifolding training techniques and read that its possible to clone the cut above the 3rd node when there are 6 nodes. I've never seen funny looking short clones like this however, and the stems are hallow.

My normal technique using non-hallow stems and more mature plants works 10/10 times, so I wonder if this will work this time? Looks super suspect to me....

The have been under the dome the first couple days, they held up and didnt wilt.

They are still under dome but I'm starting to experimenta a bit with possibly gradually reducing humidity now, as I really hope they root!

Any thoughts on this hot mess?

I've cloned many with a hollow stem they have been some of my strongest rooters honestly. I make sure the hole is full of rooting powder. I'm cloning runtz s1 I got straight from in house along with their cut of iced out, platinum garlic And few others.

Water in a glass, mug or container of choice, doesn't cost anything. Change water ever 1-3 days. Roots in 10-14 days with no misting and high humidity. Cheers!

How do y’all decide what to clone? I’m only on my second run so I don’t know what to look for.
I pheno hunt. I look for growth, branching and production of thc , smell, everything. There’s literally a ton I look for before selecting a mother and cloning her to make more moms.

If you’re just growing for fun then any plant/bud you really liked.

of course that requires cloning every plant but it’s worth it if you’re serious about finding something you’re into and want to continue to smoke.

So you’re saying some people clone every plant and keep it around if they like how it turns out? So I’d need another tent just for clones? I guess the question is there a typical procedure or setup most people go with?

Idk about a typical set up but I do just fine with a D90 clone tent for cloning and mothers.

I clone every seed then keep them until I've flowered the mothers, dried and tested each one.
It's quite a bit of a work involved but well worth it.

It'll be a learning curve for you but you can monster clone them, that slows everything right down making the process much easier/less labour intensive.

Basically with monster cloning your leaving the cloning until there's a bud started to form.

Here's an example of one 8 weeks old and still requires another 5/6 weeks before it really gets going. _20201210_122840.JPG

At a push you can keep clones in the fridge.

I though the same thing at first but it’s actually been pretty easy to keep the clones alive. Since I don’t care if they’re healthy or not I’ve just been putting them in little cups or pots by a window.

if I get one I want to grow again then I’ll start taking good care of it. I am gonna need to set another light up soon though when it gets dark early enough to trigger flowering.
